Knipex CoBolt advice

Hello, I'm looking into picking up a pair of Knipex CoBolt cutters and was looking for a bit of advice on 2 of the options.

For general use thick wire (like what is often used on hay bales) and occasional harder metals like nails, is it better to go with a the notched or unnotched version?

Also what are peoples opinions on the spring vs no spring? I can see how it would make things easier for people who use it repetitively every day but for occasional use is there any downsides? Or just preference at that point?

Thanks!

I would recommend the notched version for larger materials.

I have never used the spring version.
I personally like it without the spring, because when im cutting bolts, sometimes you have to reposition your hand on the cutters to get another bite...and you want them to stay in the cut.

I have the comfort grip, locking spring notched version and have not had an issue cutting small and slightly larger wire. The notch is VERY helpful for biting into thicker stuff with maximum leverage, and I have not found it to be limiting in any way. For small stuff that the notch is too big to allow cutting, you can just slip the wire slightly further out and still cut with ease.

Just picked up the dipped handled version without the Notch and its awesome, thanks everyone!

Only dissapointment was that the dipped handles were more like channellock plasti dipped ones that most tools have and not that nice textured one on their circlip pliers that I own. Wish they would use that on all their dipped handles.
