Knipex Cobra "Quick Set" - Any Downside?

Anyone used or own one of the new Knipex Cobras with "Quick Set"?

Seems like a win win. Basically you don't need to push the button down to slide the jaws into position. You now only need to push the button to open the jaws and can simply slide the bottom jaw up to grip whatever you are working on.

Is there any way that this new feature of the tool would be worse/less convenient than the classic Cobras?

That's the way the Irwin Groovelock works and I like them. I only use the 6'' pair and only on very small tasks. Not comparing the 2 because all of knipex products are in a whole different ballpark but I do like the feature.

Any downside to the feature? On jobs where you are doing a lot of different work all on the same sized fixture could they accidentally slip smaller forcing you to reset the size for each instance?

I am going to buy either the 10" classic or 10" Quick Set very soon.

knipex cobra quick set will not slip into another size on its own, thats for sure. Its reliable tool, and with a T-8 torx, can simply remove spring and push button to clean it if becomes dirty. Then again, there is WD-40 to clean out dirt. Also note one more thing, from pics I have noticed teeths in curved sliding mrchanism is only on one side, not both sides as regular cobras have.
There is also cobra smartgrip, which is great for frequent change of sizes. It has bit less opening size, and is available only in 10" version. Quickset will def. stand all the abuses thrown out at it.

Care for the tool, and the tool will care for you!

Hmm. US General Manager says nip-ex. Still not sure if Kah-Nip-Ex or Nip-Ex.

On topic:
We all know the right answer: At least one of each.

Here are the pictures. The quick set has noticeably less pronounced adjustment teeth on only a single side. The quick set does not open as wide either.

Personally, I keep the quick set in my home box and the standard cobras in my pickup. I know I can always grab the 12" or 16" if I'm at home so I prefer to have the wider opening set in the truck.

This is just speculation but I think anything that is going to cause trouble for the quick sets will do the same for the regular cobras.

In my limited usage I prefer the standard cobras. The quick set pliers readjust themselves pretty easily.

Sorry about the pictures, I need to figure out how to resize.
