Knipex Comfort Handles?

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with Knipex that have the comfort grip option?

Reason I ask is the 3 piece cobra pliers set is only a couple bucks more expensive on amazon, unlike say their twinforce cutters that add like 25 bucks on for comfort grips.

Do the comfort grips really make a difference? Do you find the grips to be too bulky? Do the grips slide or move around at all when really squeezing on a set?

Thanks!

Comfort grips are nice I have them on my cobras, plier wrenches, and cutters. Yes they are bulky and take up toolbox space. But I am old and my hands not as strong as they used to be. I wouldn't say they offer grip so much as less pressure in your hand. Stave off fatigue.

No they do not slip and are easy to clean. They are not foamy or spongey in any way. They are not sticky like rubber soft grips. They are firmer than a pencil eraser.

My favorite pliers are the assembly pliers- aka duck bills. They aren't offered with comfort grips and I wouldn't want them to be. That said, I like the Snap On long nose (talon grip) pliers better. KNIPEX are nice looking, and the Cobras and PLier wrenches are good, but I think Snap On does a better job of the others.

I've got a dwr. full of Knipex and all with the std. red grips.

If I came across the comfort grips for cheap or if it was only available in that style, I would bite, but I just find them far too bulky unless using for day long repeititve tasks where clearence is not an issue , like workinga at a workbench or assembly table.

I have plenty of the comfort grips and prefer them, I just like the way they feel. As far as the bulk of the handles? Never really considered. To me, I want the tool to work good first, feel good a close second, then storage of said tool is a minor concern. It doesn't take up that much more space in my pliers rack and they seem to fit my relatively small hands well. For a few bucks extra, I would be all over them.

Thanks for all the replies! When I asked about bulk, I probably should have specified that I was referring to feeling bulky in hand. I have used some tools (cheaper ones) that have what they THINK is an ergonomic comfort grip but it just makes the handles giant to hold in the hand.

Do you mean you wouldn't recommend the Cobras with a comfort grip?
I bought the cobras with the comfort grip to use on a roman style jacuzzi bathtub and ended up taking them back and getting the red handled alligators instead. So if you see your self wanting to grab those amazing kinipex pliers when you get into a tight spot you will wish you didnt have the bulky comfort grip handles.

With the exception of my Knipex pliers wrench[es] and Knipex Cobra pliers, all of my other Knipex have the comfort grip handles.

I prefer the comfort grip b/c it feels better in my hand. Never have had an issue with it seeming too bulky, too big for my hands, etc.

The price-point I got my pliers wrenches and cobras at was too good to pass up and that's why they're the standard grips.

Ultimately it depends on your hands, your idea of comfort while gripping, what you will be working on, etc.

I'd say if you have a Lowes nearby and if they've still got some Knipex stock on hand, to go and try out the differences btwn the vinyl grips and the comfort grips.
