Cuts material like bolts, nails, rivets, etc Up to 52 mm dia

Wow, I have the version with the notch and I think 1/4" would be generous... the non-notch version is good for over 2 inches! :)

Damn, I missed out! Someone needs to figure out some deal alerts software on here like SD has, no time to read through every thread!

It's so the thing you're cutting doesn't just slide down the jaws while you're trying to apply force to it.

Found two pair at sears that were mis marked. If u look at the packaging they are packaged with diagonal cutter packaging. What does that mean? I got em for the price of some dykes!

Rookie question here: what is the functional difference between a pair of diagonal cutters and these compact bolt cutters? I recently purchased a pair of diagonal cutters from sears and am wondering what they will not cut that these bolt cutters will cut.

Knipex 71 01 200 Bolt Cutters:
Cuts material like bolts, nails, rivets, etc Up to 5.2 mm

The biggest diagonal cutter I could find in a quick search said: "will cut medium hard wire up to 4.6 mm; hard wire up to 3.5 mm and piano wire with maximum 3.0 mm diameter"

So materials about 2mm larger and also harder. Both are hardened to about 64 HRC but the bolt cutters will be more substantial.

And a rookie answer here. Knipex states their cutting edges are induction hardened so they should cut much tougher steels/bolts. The average set of diagonal cutters work OK on copper wire but not as well hardened steels which can ding up the cutting edge.
