They are not bad, played around with them at the store. It is great value, compare to getting the name brand.

If they made their plier wrench in a craftsman rebrand I would pick up a get. Don't need the cobra's

I got the 10" craftsman version and they are nice and the grips are very comfortable and easy to clean

Do they only have the serrated jaw models? I hardly ever use those. If they had the flat jaw ones, I might get an extra set for the car toolbox.

think you are confusing the cobra with the plier wrench. All the cobra are serrated jaws form knipex. I have never seen any smooth saw cobra's in germany.

The standard Cobras are the only Knipex pliers Craftsman rebrands that I know of.

This isn't a hot deal by a long shot though.

i have the knipex alligators, they are great.. been thinking about getting the cobra's, but id rather spring for the matching tools from Knipex.. i still cant bring myself to spend the moneyy on the pliers wrench..

The pliers wrenches are unique and nice. I got my 10" from Sears when they had those nice points deals for a little while last fall, where you could like spend $30 and get $30 in points back. I think I ended up getting mine for something like $20. It is nice and worth getting, but I wouldn't pay the $50 or more for them. I like mine for straightening out formed metal like a press would do or plumbing applications where you don't want to damage the chrome on nuts or fixtures or pipes. I don't use mine instead of a ratchet/socket or normal wrench like some do. I also do like the Cobras - I have the Craftsman set of two. But I also like the knockoff cheap Irwin Cobras too. I realize for pro use the real Cobras or Craftsman are much better, but for lighter home DIY type use, I find the Irwins just fine and much more palatable. For those on the fence on Cobras, I'd get some Irwins when on sale for less than $10 a piece and try them out first. If you like alot, consider the better hardness and heat treat on the real Cobras. - Paul

I know this is a fairly old thread but I thought I would provide an update anyway. I have had the 8/10 inch Craftsman rebranded pliers for quite a while and only used them here and there on things I could have used other pliers on and found them only to be OK.

Twice now I have had them save my ***. These are much more handy than one would believe when you HAVE to use them. The latest example was removing a fuel filter from my project GMC truck. It had obviously not been replaced in quite some time and was plugging up with **** from the tank from sitting. But that is a subject for a different thread. I tried to remove the lines from the filter using a large 20 mm wrench on the bigger fastener and a 16 mm flare wrench on the smaller one. I used enough force to round the smaller one with the flare wrench. At this point I had nothing to lose and was preparing to brake the lines and replace them if failure was the outcome. So I used the Knipexsman pliers. They worked extremely well. I thought I broke the line I used so much force but it actually broke loose to my surprise. These pliers didn't even so much as slip on the nut. It just keeps grabbing tighter and tighter as you use more and more force, as long as you keep your grip tight on the plier ends as well.

I can't say enough about these things now that I have used them for their intended purpose. The only bad thing is now I may have to invest in more.

I know this comment is old, but for anyone else reading this resurrected thread this set goes on sale for a with a decent discount pretty frequently. Combine that with SYWR points or surprise points and they can be had quite cheaply!

What size pliers did you use that is comparable to 20mm wrench?

I would have used vise grip to get a firm grip.

Also are you sure maybe those fittings do not use like a 5/8 SAE or something?
