I thought they were the same till I bought a second pair. The casting is much finer on the knipex branded ones and see how many more adjustment notches there are?

Knipex changed the design recently and added more notches. Your Craftsman pliers are from before the change while the Knipex are the new design. I would expect that the new Craftsman version would also get the change but I have not see any with the new design yet.

yup, I don't care who makes them, I don't want crapsman :) But I'm also shopping around for a new favorite now that Knipex is a Home Depot/Lowes/walmart store brand, what is the consensus on Bahco???

:wtf:

Just because Lowe's now stocks some Knipex tools hardly makes it their store brand. I believe Kobalt is still Lowe's store brand. And AFAIK, Knipex is not available at HD or WallyWorld.

Your "logic" here is seriously lacking the application of basic common sense.

That's right! What good are high quality tools if they are widely available to the general public? :spit:

They are priced higher than most online stores, but here ya go Knipex at the walmart of home improvement;

I'm probably a nut job, but when I'm shopping for tools I stay away from anything that comes from a big box, it means low to mid grade at best.

you know not everyone at hd is stupid, and they know there are there are real craftsmen who shop there because they have too. there are times when i was a plumber that i needed something for a job and hd was right there. yea most people at hd are just regular joes, and lots of people who work there are in fact complete and total morons, but there are many many people who shop there because they like doing their own work, love tools and espically decent tools, but simply cant afford nor justify getting rapped buying snap on.

so just because a company sees a huge market with hd and decides to allow them to sell their wares does not mean they are a sell out, or now make bad tools. the logic some people here have astounds me. ive bought alot of non usa tools that have def made their cost back and served me well

It looks like two different sets of tooling made those pliers :dunno:

I could be wrong but it looks like the Knipex takes the extra step of more material removal/finishing on the forged piece than the Craftsman. If this is true (and I've no idea if it is), I wonder how much you save by skipping this step? Or doing it to a lesser extent?
