Knipex Handle Slid Off

Been using a pair of Chrome Plated Knipex Needle Nose on fishing trips for 2 months now. I carry them on a belt sheath (BTW, Cheap Sheath not worth it) and somehow pulled just the handle out today? The other is on super tight I can't budge it.

I'm thinking a couple drops of 2-Part Epoxy in the grip and slide it back on? I'd like it to be totally sealed away from saltwater.

Or Silicone? OR JB Weld?

Two part epoxy is the way to go. Sand the handle with 80 grit to give it something to grip to and use a stick to put the epoxy on the interior of the handle. Slide on the handle, wait the prescribed drying time and you should be good to go. By the way JB Weld IS epoxy.

Sand the handle of the plier down? Or do I need to rough up the interior of the grip as well?

The handle of the pliers is fine and you don't need to go nuts about it just scuff them up a little. I do this all the time with grips on ratchets. I use 5-minute epoxy but golf shafting epoxy or anything else that's a two part epoxy works equally as well.

I've glued them on with Crazy Glue before, but you've got to slide the handle on fast before it gets too sticky. You only have about 3 seconds.

There is glue for motorcycle grips that is basically a type of super/crazy glue, this shoudl work perfect and you don't need to mess up the chrome plating. Just read the directions and as the above poster mentions...be quick about it.

I just did this with a pliers handle with good results. I used loc-tite branded 2 part, 5 minute epoxy. It came with a long narrow nozzle that mixes the epoxy, and was just the right size to get down to the bottom of the handle.

You misunderstand. It is simply molting its coat due to the summer weather. Soon a shorter, glossier coat will grow in its place.

I think there is a rule of thumb somewhere ? You are wanting to bond a flexible item to an inflexible one. You would probably need to strongly consider a flexible bond (unlike most epoxies)
Personally - I would use a natural silicone product, it will bond yet flex and create a waterproof seal , plenty of working time.
Or- first try to heat disgruntled "plastic" handle in very hot water , slide on and see how it goes. I understand the thought about sealing against salt but the OTHER handle is not. Not sure it matters but YMMV

Well in a moment of despair some Epoxy was mixed and poured.



Took a couple minutes to work the air out, wish I would have set the Epoxy outside for awhile before pouring.

Same here, and that's what I'd have used. Makes for the easiest cleanup too.

Clear spray paint (or Any Color will do) and slide it on .. been doing that on Motorcycle grips for years, Cheap and easy

Been using the pliers for a little over a year now, pure salt water environment. They have handled great, every now and then I wash them with dawn and soak them in T9 Bioshield.

HOWEVER, seems like the florida heat finally got to the other handle, it slid off yesterday while on a trip. Epoxy on the other side never failed.

I use contact cement. Or you can use gasgacinch glue. It is what I used on my dirt bike grips.
I certainly would have a tether on that pair of pliers being on a boat.
