I was in Home Depot today and surprised to see Knipex pliers in the store. Has anyone else seen Knipex at your local HD?

Have not seen any Knipex in my local HD's. Those prices are crazy! I just bought 10" alligator pliers, cutters, and long nose Knipex for $50 total with the 25% off sale posted in Hot deals.

Well it's about time Home Depot got something better to go next to the Channellocks besides crappy *** China made dewalt pliers for Klein prices. I hope they will grow their line to include more models but I wonder what this will do for klein exclusivity at Home Depot.

I wonder if they have more near the electrical tools? Home Depot has been upping their tool game. They have a much better selection than Lowe's and they are now rivaling Menard's. Definitely have better quality offerings. Home Depot has always seemed more geared towards the professional while Lowe's is geared towards the home owner. Menard's seems to want both.

While none of the three are even semi remotely geared toward contractors, Home Depot is by farrrrrrr the worst. Literally cancelled everything with them in a few months. I still shop there personally occasionally. Lowes/menards, usually whoever is closer to the job if it's small stuff.

They do not. Klein is only tools of note in that section as of right now, seems the selection is the same for the HDs that stock Knipex.

HD geared to the Pros? That's a sad reality when you look at the quality of a lot their plumbing, electrical and lumber…

That's all I see at my local HD. While the local Lowe's is nothing but c
Khaki shorts and polo shirts with sandals. Now what I meant wasn't the entire store and business model geared towards Pros. I should have said they kinda cater to them. More so than Lowe's. I also meant tool wise. Not the entire product offering.

You're right and it isn't a perspective. HD gears its self more towards contractors while Lowes towards do it your selfers. When you look at the breakdowns of their income sources on the annual report they delineate this fact.

Was in ours over the weekend and didnt see any. And I would have seen them if they were in the pliers section, I usually stroll through the tool section everytime I'm in there.

That's been my impression also. Of the two, HD carries more lines associated with pros. Klein, Ridgid (plumbing), Milwaukee, Channellock, etc. not found at Lowe's, while I can't off-hand think of a pro-oriented brand carried by Lowe's, but not HD.

I think I have, but I'm not 100% sure. I buy most of my pliers online, so I don't pay too much attention to their selection in-store.

Not only are they at my home depot, my local ace hardware has them. They will never sell with how high their prices are on them. I want to the say the adjustable plier wrench are listed close to $100.

I saw them at the store in Atlanta. But I think I'll buy online unless I need a specific tool at a specific time and I feel like splurging.

Sears has them, but not seen them in any of the home depots i frequent. I also always walk down the tool isle to see if there are deals on.

Personally I just bought three pairs from Amazon for $70. One was even as low as $16. The needle nose, that i wanted a quality pair of needle nose tho, was $35. Anyway hope that helps people on the lookout for Knipex.

I tried getting a Needle Nose from Home Depot online, but few days later, the website displayed Discontinued next to the Product name header, strange

That's the end of Knipex right there. When Klein went into Home Depot, their quality went off a cliff.

I have bought a bunch of Klein from Home Depot and other places over the past couple years and use them daily. Pliers, crimper, cutters ,screwdrivers, and even meters. No issue with quality at all. My blue handled 2000 series cutter will cut anything. My p2 Phillips drivers have held up very well. Still by far my favorite wire strippers and crimp tool. This has been my experience with the tools and others may have had issues. I have been very pleased and would buy any of again.

I agree. I also have bought lots of Klein from the Depot as well as local supply stores. Mostly pliers but more recently, screwdrivers and I have been well pleased. To me Klein just does some things better like 2000 series 9" Linemans or their heavy duty needle nose pliers. The 2000 series diagonal side cutters you mention are awesome also. Great leverage and very tough edge.

However, I don't think Klein does themselves any favors by having standard and heavy duty versions of the same tool. For cutters and Linemans I know to seek out the 2000 series because they are rated to cut hardened materials but many don't know this and end up with standard versions that disappoint them. Let's face it, who hasn't cut something that pushes the envelope at some point? I'd rather have that capability and only use it occasionally then need it and ruin a tool that cost a few bucks less than the better one.

No Knipex at my local Home Depot. Still in a bunch of Milwaukee made in China junk for way too much money. $25 for cutting/crimp tool. For $5 more you can buy a USA made Klein version in the electrical isle. $22 for an 8" needle nose with cutter. Channellock USA made 8" with cutter for $19.99. Just doesn't have the Milwaukee name or the fancy grips. Just a cheaper price for a superior tool. I think they bank on the name recognition of the Milwaukee junk. Another example. 7" diagonals. Same price for the Milwaukee as the cl. I do like the Milwaukee locking pliers though

None in Rogers AR. Just the usual CL, Milwaukee at about a buck less than the equivalent CL, and Crescent and Husky, whatever people pay for that stuff. It did look like Klein may be edging out Greenlee in the electrical section. It used to be about half and half, now more like 70-30. It looks like we now have both Klein tiers in more tools, plus more strippers, unibits, nut drivers and screwdrivers than before.

None in either of the Mobile, Alabama stores but HD has a great online selection of Knipex and I have at times found very good deals on them.

Yeah, that drives me nuts. I use Milwaukee & Dewalt power tools, but am incredibly unimpressed with their hand tool line-up so far. Would take the channellock stuff over them any day of the week.

I've always liked channellock too.. but lately they have been sending me real **** via Amazon who seems to be a clearing house for their new guy practice pliers.

Been buying Knipex online too, every one has been near perfect.
I've also found them at Sears and HD.

I'm starting to get a bit suspicious of Amazon (and note that I'm ordering straight from Amazon, not a reseller using their service). I've noticed that some of the stuff I get from there (lately just some office supplies) seems almost like it's NOS: I have some binder reinforcements that have an promo included with them that ended in 2004. And a couple of the books that I've received lately look like they're the print company's seconds.

I probably have 10 different Channellock tools, all just grabbed off the shelf at Home Depot without inspection, all perfect, and the single pair of slip-joints I ordered from Amazon have a (relatively minor) manufacturing defect... :dunno:

Glad to see knipex in local stores vs tool trucks or online

I know they are pricey compared to channellock but the pliers are a lot more durable and hold up over time too

I was just in the Vernon Hills, IL HD yesterday, and I noticed they'd re-done their pliers wall, but I didn't notice any Knipex. I may have missed them, though, as the HD web site lists Cobra 7-1/4" pliers and the 10-in box joint + 8-in diagonal pliers set w/ bag as available in-store. Interesting...

Edit: Stopped by there again last night, and there's no sign of Knipex along with the other tools. Re-checked the app, still showed the two when I filtered by "in-store," but then showed available for in-store delivery when I looked at each one individually. I fear HD may have hired some of the people who run Sears' app/site...

Yea.. all Channellocks I see on the shelves are just fine, nicely finished.
The 5 or 6 that I've ordered from Amazon all have finish work oddities that all of us would probably pass on if seen first-hand at a store.
Most notable is a loppside uneven pair of 8" needle nose with tiny tips sharp as a tack, and a small 6" pair of needle nose with a huge/fat tip 4mm wide.
Both took plenty of work on the belt to correct.

I have little doubt that Amazon is a dumping ground for factory seconds... they've discovered that buyers are less likely to bother sending it back.

These have sides that look like they were chewed by beavers and look much worse in person...
Every Knipex I've come across - in store or received from online - have been near perfect.
