I had been reading about brands of locking pliers and thought I would order some of the Knipex, I also ordered a pair of Gedore at the same time. I currently have a bunch of grip on (some napa) and a bunch of USA made Vise-Grip brand (some Irwin, most Petersen). Well let me tell you, the Gedore are very nice, the unlocking tab is wider than normal, but seems to work very well. The Knipex on the other hand are very loose, the jaws don't line up because they are so sloppy. I went through my older pairs of vise-grips and I could not find one that was as loose. Is this a fluke or are they not as good as some of their other offerings?
Both pliers were under $35 from amazon, about the price of grip ons as well.
The two models I ordered were:
Knipex 4114250 Universal Jaw Locking Pliers 10-Inch
GEDORE 6406700 10" Grip Wrench
