I'll let you know when i get mine.
I have a pair coming eventually from KC Tool that has a pivoting bottom jaw that I saw a this year's SEMA show.

However, i can't really understand the cult like following with the old Petersen vise grips. I have several pair from my youth but, I tend to reach for my grip ons first. :dunno:

I’ve got 2 pairs. I believe that they are made by Bohlman for Knipex. Good grips but I personally prefer my Milwaukee’s to them.

I got a pair of them that I wasn't fond of. I ended up returning them. I definitely didn't think they compared to my brother's Grip-Ons, or my old Petersens.

As time has gone on, I have acquired an incredible number of old petersens at flea markets, estate sales, auctions and swap meets. While I'm happy with my knipex stuff, I love my petersens

Grip On is nice, I find Knipex to be comparable in quality but the Knipex is smoother. I've also yet to get a pair of Knipex locking pliers with misaligned jaws, can't say the same about Grip-On. Both are great tools any complaint about either is nitpicking.

They are not as good as the vice grips brand. I have both a Knipex and a Grip on: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UHUCAS/?tag=atomicindus08-20 and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008U4M0LU/?tag=atomicindus08-20

The release on both will kill ya (or at least try its best to remove flesh) and even though the jaws don't appear worn, give a poor grip. Maybe they are counterfeits? I got them off the Big A . My other Knipex from the Big A work as they should: Cobras, long nose, snap ring and linesman pliers.

I have a bunch of the knipex/rennsteig (they're identical), nothing special about them.

The Facom/Proto ones however are something special. I only have 1 set of those and am a huge fan.
