Now with my dominant hand hurting from arthritis, I’m trying to decide if I should give up the comfort grip for the notched blade, or pick the notched pair and have the regular grip.

Would you give up the notch or the comfort grip?

I would. But I dislike comfort grips even with my arthritis. I followed the advice of other GJer's that recommended the notch. I'm pretty glad I did. I hate it when material wants to slide out of the opening.

Why not have both? 71 32 200 - recessed/notched blade, and comfort grip.

Or have the option of putting both hands on it with the 12" - 71 31 250 - recessed/notched blade, plastic coated grip.

Mine have the notch and I hate it.

Can't help with the comfort grip because I hate those too and don't own anything with it. If I ever break down and get another pair, it's gonna be these.

Knipex has plenty to choose from, you can get a pair about any way you want.

I would, definitely, step up to the 10” ones if my arthritis was worse.

I have the 8” Cobolt bolt cutters, and they are great, but I would bet that the extra leverage is awesome.

What number is it? I can’t find them on the Knipex website.
I've just given it in the post before the one you quoted.

I don’t want the one with the spring.
No option for unsprung + recess + comfort grips. But the spring is easily removable.

71 = Cobolt

3rd digit
  • 0 Straight, unsprung
  • 1 Straight
  • 2 Straight, angled head
  • 3 Recessed
  • 4 Recessed, angled head
4th digit
  • 1 Plastic-coated
  • 2 Multi-component (comfort).
