Hello, first time poster here! Anyways, I've decided to buy a pair of Knipex Mini-Bolt Cutters, but I don't know which to get: Straight or Angled, Recess or Not? Are there any recommendations out there of which to get? Any owners with regrets of roads not traveled? Any assistance is appreciated!

For the first pair, get the straight with recess. The recess is nice for cutting some large items that otherwise wouldn't fit in the jaws of the cutter.

I got the top of the line straight, recess, comfort grips, and the locking return spring for quick repeated cuts. Love it and I'm glad I spent the $70 on that single pair of pliers.

The regular ol' bolt cutters should cover 90% of what you need. But you're asking the Garagejournal. The place that when asked questions like, "Which one should I get?" They read it as "Which one should I get first?"

With that said, Welcome to the Garagejournal, but say goodbye to your wallet.

Ah yes, of course, which pair should I get first. Well, I guess while we're discussing the tool, what are your opinions on the return spring? I don't find myself making rapid succession cuts very often. Does it seem beneficial outside of multiple successive cuts? I'm currently against it (which is why it wasn't asked in my original post), as many of my tools aren't spring-loaded and I'm perfectly content with them (I'm also not a fan of the larger, comfort grips that come with the spring). Skip it on my first pair?

Any of them will work, it sounds like you already know what you want, just get a basic pair and you will be happy with them.

If you're not in a hurry for them, why not watch Flea Bay and bid on a used pair. That's how I got mine for like $12 and postage. Original, straight jaw, nothing fancy. They are worth every penny, no matter what you buy.
Cheers,
Jim Don
