A pain in the k-neck to pronounce, but a joy to use. I have three sizes and use them frequently. They're no replacement for a set of wrenches, but it's surprising how often they come in handy. Much more useful than the Cobras -- which I like but don't use nearly as often.
Well-done video, too.
I'm glad you mentioned their usefulness with straightening bent stuff. They're handy with sheet metal in a few different ways.

Still trying to see the usefulness of these.I bought my 12" pair 2 Months ago and havent been impressed.They don't make my job easier or faster.kind of awkward adjustability .usually tossed aside and real tools come out.cool how they crush coins.using pliers on bolts is just fundamentally wrong.I want to like them but havent seen the benefits yet.I'm selling mine to some enamored kid who believes this spiel.

They are a perfect plumbers tools seems like, but with the adjustability of the Knipex pliers wrench is seems like a PERFECT tool to throw in your backpack on a motorcycle trip because of the range of bolt mm sizes it can adjust to.

I purchased mine back in 2005 when they were featured in a magazine (can't remember which) as winning a design award for the pliers wrench. This was my introduction to KNIPEX, used them and Loved them and all my Knipex tools since.

The Pliers Wrench is not always the "right" tool but it's often the best tool I have right now. I purchased my first pair to use on the large locknuts found on older bicycle headsets. It saved me from procuring and carrying around a second set of headset wrenches. As other posters have mentioned, it is also very good for use on chrome plumbing hardware.
In my all-purpose tool bag I carry a 10 inch pair of pliers wrench along with a 6 inch crescent. The small crescent isn't as awkward in some situations and the 10 inch Knipex Pliers Wrench can handle the larger fasteners since I only carry wrenches up to 7/8" and 19mm and sockets to 1" and 22mm.

Yes; the worst tool ever made. Completely useless. You and I are the only ones who know the truth... anyone who finds value in these is just some brainwashed kid who's bought into Knipex's "spiel"...

Well an adjustable wrench have too much play in the jaws, you always have too tighten it up, makes me crazy.
Then the Kinpex are perfect. Soo don´t come with your lies...
Maybe this isn´t good for what you are working on, but there is many people that really like this plierwrench.
And by the way, i´m not some brainwashed kid.

What are some disadvantages to the pliers wrench? It can't be totally perfect, can it? I'm thinking of getting a pair to throw in my home tool set because my work tool set contains all my pliers and my adjustable wrench.

One thing I think is missed in the video is the gripping strength because of the "cam" design". Normal pivoting pliers cant squeeze nearly as hard as the Knipex plier wrenche. Compare the amount of handle movement to the jaw movement. I remember a multiplication of x10, but that could be wrong? For example this becomes useful when you are trying to split two brass fittings but arn't near a vise.

No, they're not perfect.
I find them kinda bulky, sometimes it gets in the way. The jaws are quite slender though, which is usually nice.
Adjusting them with one hand is somewhat awkward, made worse when trying to adjust them in a tight spot.
The angle of the head is different than an adjustable, like 40ish degrees. Not good or bad, just different. Makes accessing some spots tough, but others a breeze!
Having to clench the handles can be awkward at times.
That being said, they are very handy. Not the be-all, end-all of anything, but certainly useful. It really depends what you work on.

I have tried them and still prefer an adjustable wrench when working on pipe fittings. Sometimes you just aren't able to squeeze the handles. It's all a trade off with what type of work you do. I bought a ten inch and kind of regret the purchase. I keep them at home now as I found they just aren't what I like at work.

organ, I can tell you don't like the tool so I will gladly take it off your hands so it does not aggravate you and you don't have to put up with Knipex "spiel"

I use the hell out of mine. Love them. They seem to be more useful to me than any other single pair of pliers in my toolbox. They are gentle when you need to be a little more careful with a fitting or total monsters when your removing an AN fitting that has been in place for 30 years. I use them regularly when fabricating sheet metal. They are also extremely useful for holding things when you don't want to leave a dent, mar, or a scratch. Hands down one of the best of the best when it comes to modern tool innovation.

I used mine to squeeze in roll pins on a brass flare gun the other day. Parallel and no damage to brass.

Big one is you have to grip the handles together. Overhead work is tough with them. I got them for fitting pipe but I like a good old adjustable better.
They are terrible screwdrivers sadly
they are the be all end all of plier wrench combinations, but there is no such thing as a be all end all of pliers or wrenches. I love them for holding a blind nut as they are pliers as well as a wrench they can actually hold the nut after bolt is removed and or hold the nut as the bolt is placed. They also can grip the head of a bolt that is stubborn and pull without damaging the head of the bolt. So they do things that previously were flimsy tasks that involved tape and magnets much more efficiently.
The small pair is the only set I have and find that access in tight area's on aircraft is completely do able.
Simply put, in the right hands these are tools that are irreplaceable while not necessarily replacing any current tool.

I for one think it is one of the best "newer" tools available. Unlike so many others that seem to hit the market every year; in no way do I see this as a gimmicky tool. They've probably been around a while but I've only seen them over last couple years. Finally landed a deal on one just recently. I reach for them over the classic adjustable wrench in most all cases now. Just easier than fiddling with the thumb roll...
Now I gotta get a deal on the 7"... ha

Where did you get them and how much did you end up paying? I found them at Crawford Tool for $46 and some change.

I paid less for the 6" ones, but I would love to have them that small.

I have a pair of these, and I like 'em. They're especially nice when dealing with fittings that aren't really the right size in either SAE or mm. When I got them, I thought they would make crescent wrenches obsolete, but they still have their moments. I've also recently learned that I grew up using some crappy crescent wrenches, and now that I have some good ones, hey, they aren't that bad.

I bought the largest ones they offer; 16" (400mm). There are many times where I did not have a wrench large enough to hold/turn something without marring the surface. Nice to have...
