Especially towns and streets that use foreign place names that they pronounce differentliy from the place they took it from. Lima Ohio says it like lima bean while in Peru they say LEEma. New Madrid,MO says New MAD rid instead of Muh DRID. Bogota,Nj says Ba GO da instead of BO ga tah as in Colombia. Houston, TX is pronounced HOUSE tin St. In New York City. Albany like the capitol of NY where it is pronou ced ALL ban ee becomes Al BAY nee in Georgia. If visiting any of those places I follow local custom but charge it off to linguistic ignorance. If you say it wrong long enough, it becomes right.Oh, you know what I meant
I pronounce words to the best of my ability. Lots of small towns all over USA are pronounced differently locally. If I know it, I use it.
