Knipex Sale

So I'm sort of a Knipex addict, even more so than Wiha or the other German stuff. And this stuff almost never goes on sale, and I guess since Sears is selling it discounted, Lowes started doing the same. These are some exceptional pliers, and even though they don't have a lifetime warranty on the blade, unless your're trying to cut uncuttable objects these last a lifetime. I still have my dads first Knipex tool (side cutters) going strong. And if you've ever used their pliers (esp. Cobra) you will never go back.

I keep REALLY wanting to buy some Knipex stuff, because of all the raving everyone does about how good it is... but those just aren't tools I use often enough (if ever) to justify purchasing. Maybe, one day, I'll run out of other stuff to buy, and buy them just because.

I snagged the compact cable shears a while back. I love 'em! I've used them on anything from CAT6 to 12-2. Cuts clean and with minimal effort. Plus they're pretty darn tiny so I can pocket them at work.

My local lowes had almost all their knipex tools on clearance (in the electrical section) seemed like ok deals... Maybe 15%? Still couldn't justify spending that much money just being a weekend warrior.

I might spring for a nice pair of needle noses. All I have right now are Kobalts...

Went to Lowe's to buy some paint and walked out with some new toys. I am a weekend warrior too but I finally had it with my cheap chinese wire crimpers and HF needle nose pliers. Hopefully these live up to the challenge.

Military discount brought it down to $21.39 for the needle nose and $22.95 for the electrician's pliers.

The 15% off sale is supposed to run until 08/15/2013 at Lowes.com and looks permanent from the yellow tags on most of the Knipex in stock at each store in the electrical aisle.

The comfort grip is a costly upgrade, but feels much better and worth it imho. Not sure if the 1000v rating is worth the upgrade for the electrical ones over the comfort grip for weekend warriors.

The 8 inch sidecutters are outstanding. If you haven't tried them, you might take the time.

I had to get the comfort grip, as there were no standard ones available...

I have both of those and I use the hell out of the electrician pliers. The strippers work great and the teeth still arr going stronG. I use mine for phone wiring so I don't cut anything to heavily. The crimp portion is not very well though out. They seem to never get a good drip from them. Works fine in a pinch though.

Part 1: Garage Journal Forum Members = whine about the state of
manufacturing going downhill in favor of the bottom line.

Part 2: Garage Journal Forum Members = would buy from Lowes to save a
measly three dollars

Edit: "Trolling"/"Flaming"/derailment unintended. Move along, nothing to see here.

Yetihunter,

I think your Part 2 edited: GJ members buy quality stuff $3 cheaper so Lowes sells more and maybe will get the hint that they need to start carrying more American made tools.

Oh, that's how it works.

"need a hug"

nawww, I'm cool. I'd be reamed by moderators in other forums. So, perhaps
a bit of therapy.
