Orbis?? this may help:

"Orbis is a division of the German KNIPEX Group that specializes in the manufacturing and development of high quality tools.
For over 40 years, Orbis has been manufacturing products designed for maximum performance, ease of use and long life"

Angled Pliers & Cutters

Distributed by KNIPEX, the German made Orbis Angled Head Pliers and Cutters are the newly designed comfort angled pliers for hard working hands. The 25° angle provides a natural extension of your hand which offers a more comfortable working position. In addition to comfort, the angle also allows for better sight lines when working in confined spaces – being able to see what you are grabbing, pulling and cutting is critical in getting the job done quickly, accurately and efficiently.

I don't know what this means. I understood previously that they're the same company, and you just gave me the product description. Surely something has to be different about them to market them under a different name? Are the Orbis better than Knipex, or worse? Or the same and no one knows why they're just not Knipex branded?!

I have the Orbis angled pair in my cart but need to justify future potential use. The description I posted means they won't be Knipex branded but since they are a division of the Knipex group, I would expect these pliers to be top notch for the price over any other lesser brand. Having experienced good results with Knipex pliers, I would expect similar experience with Orbis. The Orbis angled design is very interesting but I'm just not sure whether I need such high quality in an angled application that something less expensive could produce similar results. For example, after using the Knipex pliers wrench, there is no substitute in certain applications.

I've been using Knipex for years with no complaints. I have been thinking about grabbing a pair of the Orbis but just can't justify it. Anyone else used Orbis (particularly the angled pliers)? How do they compare?

Would love some feedback.

Orbis has more of a market presence outside of the USA. They are a "sister" company of Knipex and for the US market they focus on the angled head pliers to help differentiate them from Knipex. Orbis focuses on custom-label pliers for private parties as well as larger companies. For example, Felo pliers were made by Orbis but they've since been discontinued.

I got my 4pc a couple days ago...Anyone want a free mouse pad?

I received my pair of cable shears (95 11 165) the other day. Haven't had a chance to use them but I ordered them for some upcoming wiring projects. The mouse pad caught me by surprise. I don't have a mouse to use it under. :p123

$10.00 for the sockets? Nice. I ordered some Knipex pliers from them a few weeks back. Seems like they added a clearance section with a lot of goodies. Will be placing another order soon.

mrvm,

What's your opinion on the quality of these? I've been looking for a set of wheel sockets. Almost bought the HF set just to see what they are about. These could be much better.

Used them last weekend for a tire rotation with the M18 Fuel impact wrench with no problems. Regular impacts work fine but the thin-wall sockets were deeper and gripped the lug nust just fine. For ten bucks, who needs HF???

Well, I ordered the sockets. And a bunch of other stuff, too! :spit:

In addition to the Knipex stuff on sale that MDS site has a lot of decent stuff on clearance. Free shipping after $50. Check the On Sale and Clearance tabs.

I bought this retractable air hose. It looks like the ViperFlex is similar to FlexZilla nose. I'll find out soon enough:

$50

If you prefer just the hose:

$15

I was looking at some Wera drivers and heard that the quality goes hand in hand with Knipex.

Anyone have any comments on the quality?

My package came today. The sockets look nice enough - thanks mrvm.

In addition to the hose reel I bought a few other bits - a blow gun, a tire filler and a digital thermometer. It's all bottom feeder China ****. Lower quality than you'd find at Harbor Freight. Glad I got it on clearance.

I've yet to unpack the hose reel. Fingers crossed.
