Knipex smell like cologne?

Hello. I bought some Knipex Cobra and Pliers Wrenches recently for the mobile set (can't ever have enough Knipex) and they smell like men's cologne. Specifically it's the light oil that smells of cologne. I wiped some off, it's definitely the oil.

The last time I bought Knipex a few years ago, they didn't have this smell, just a normal light oil smell that was not strong at all.

Is this a new thing? I'd rather have the light oil smell, which is hardly noticeable. These smell like the old guy one booth over in a family restaurant.

I own probably 15 pairs of different types of Knipex pliers, pliers wrench, cobras etc. Can't comment much on a men's cologne smell. I once bought a pair of autogrip knipex that smelled absolutely terrible. I washed the handles with soap, simple green, stoddard solvent, covered them in lysol 'fresh linen', nothing could get rid of the absolutely horrific smell of like bad BO. I finally contacted the seller about it, and they let me return them. Never happened with another pair since.

Were they outside the package when you bought them? If so, chances are the person who stocked them at the store got the cologne on them from their hands.

They were all in original Knipex packaging, the outside of the packaging didn't smell. The handles didn't smell at all, just the oil. It's like someone spilled cologne into the oil container.
