Does anyone know when this deal typically ends? Still sorting through exactly what pliers I want. All of my current pliers are junk, which makes it easier (I think?)

So far, I'm thinking:

Knipex:

High leverage Diagonal cutters - 8" (angled?)
10" Cobra
10" Pliers Wrench
8" Mini Bolt Cutters
Slip-joint/combination? Not in this sale but future

Channellock:

Tongue-in-groove
Linesman
Misc angled or specialty

Snap-on:

Talon grip needle nosed, various sizes

Think that should fairly well cover a basic set. These sales seem to come up fairly often, in case I want to add on later. Don't mind paying more for Knipex on the first go-round (buy once cry once)

I don't know what you do/what you need/want them for, so I can't comment on that. I can however say that there's not much point in CL tongue and grooves with a pair of Cobras.

That makes sense.

Needs are mostly shade-tree DIY mechanic type stuff, with some electrical work on occasion.

This "Deal" is nothing new.

Everything old is new again

Just ran across some new Knipex sets on Mobile Distributor Supply.
Looks like they lowered the prices on some as well.

Don't forget to use coupon code KNIPEX for free shipping if your order is under $49.

Was just now reading an archived thread about Knipex's Needle-Nose pliers. I'll stick to Channellock for Needle Nose as they seem to be more fit.

On the other hand, I've been able to scoop of much of Knipex's popular offerings. I'm sure to be pleased with the overall quality.

It appears the coupon code is still valid. Cheers

I spent 100+ pages on advrider.com seeing these tools praised consistently. & now the 7" wrench & 6" cobra for $55, shipped!

Picked up the comfort grip Cobra set, regular grip wrench set, and the 5" version of both. Agonized over whether I'd actually use all the sizes, but consoled myself by saying I could sell unused sizes on Ebay for about the same I paid.

Also grabbed the 8" high leverage diagonal cutters, mini bolt cutters, and lineman pliers. Those seemed the most recommended offerings from Knipex.

Once I find a good deal on their huge snap ring set, they will finally have all the money I'm willing to give. Maybe.

Buy once cry once.

The code doesn't seem to be working anymore. They are still on sale, but free shipping looks dead (below $49.99)

The Cobra Plier Sets and definitely the Plier's Wrench Set (includes virtually all size configurations).

I believe there is also an assorted set. Their pliers are definitely quality-grade.

What are the go to tools to buy for $100 bucks? I don't own anything from Knipex.

"Try" to get the Comfort Grips. I have a good feeling they will last longer; they appear more ruggedly built. I'll be a receiving a pair of comfort grip pliers later this week and will elaborate my opinion then. :D

Got my comfort grips Cobras in. Not unhappy with my choice, just hoping they clean up OK and stay pretty-ish. Feel good in the hands.

I'm using the **** out of my 7" plier wrench. I got the other sizes also but I slipped that one in my back pocket this weekend and it was perfect. Dismantled some old shelving and it took the rusted nuts off without rounding. Installed a new pre hung door and pulled a few trim nails and staples with it. Used the jaws to straighten up my last sawzall blade so I could finish up and avoid running back to the store.

I'm so happy with the 7" I'm ordering 3 more. One for the truck, one for my buddy and another to keep at work.

Thank you to the OP for making me aware of this.

Just ordered 7" Cobra, 8" high leverage diagonal cutters, 8" mini bolt cutters, and 8" needle nose. Free shipping of course for a total of 105 dollars.

I finally caved! I could only afford one set right now, and I decided on a 6" Plier Wrench. I was really torn between the 6" and the 7 1/4".

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the "knipex" code to work anymore, but I only paid about $30 shipped from Sears (using points and surprise points) vs $34.98. It is listed at $48 right now, which is less than it's been the last few days. Those darn prices fluctuate at least daily.

That's a really nice set. Did you buy the 4 piece set or individuals?

I bought the set before I priced the individuals.

Me ? I picked them all out separately. If there was a set that contained these four pairs I didn't notice it. I'm not going to go look now as I'm sure it would have been cheaper than buying individually, and there's no reason to hurt my own feelings by reviewing my own stupidity. Ignorance is bliss in my case.

Actually, your situation is an exception. I found purchasing them individually was actually a cheaper route than going with the set. As strange as this might sound, I thought about getting the set earlier, but after going through various merchants, found the individual pairs well worth it.

So my inattention and ignorance didn't wind up inadvertently costing me extra money ? That's a first. Things are looking up in my world. I'm off to buy a lottery ticket and see if my lucky streak holds out.

The prices constantly fluctuate on these Knipex's. Every so often, Sears would price these exact Knipex pliers $4 lower on one day and and $4 higher the next day. And MDS has had some sort of Low Price Everyday commitment. The only sets worth buying as a whole from Knipex are their Pliers Wrenches and Cobra Plier Sets (that is, if you wish to own all three popular sizes :D )

You did good.

I need to stop coming on to Garage Journal...every day I find something new to buy. Never gonna knock off the last of my student loans at this rate...

I'm thinking of picking up a few items...for the Cobra and Pliers Wrench I was thinking of getting the 7" in each - do you think this is the best size to have if I just plan to buy one right now? Also, I have some pretty good old school pliers/cutters/etc. from my grandfather but wouldn't mind picking up some newer stuff to go with it - what would you guys recommend? I was thinking maybe some diagonal/flush cutters and one or two or other items. The twin-force cutters look interesting but they're pricey. Worth the 2x price over the high leverage cutters?

Also, how is the ORBIS stuff. If I read correctly it's a sub-brand of Knipex? Was looking at the 2-piece Orbis package.

Edit:

My order currently looks like this:

- Knipex 7 Inch Pliers Wrench
- Knipex 7 Inch Cobra® Pliers
- KNIPEX 2 Piece ORBIS Angled Pliers Set (this seems to be the only set that is cheaper to buy as a set than individually)
- Knipex 9 1/2 Inch Linemans Pliers

Which with the 10% discount and free shipping comes to $108.83.

Not looking to spend much more than $100 and I figured the angled pliers are nice cause they're something I don't currently have. I have good, old Linemans pliers (Kraeuter and some other stuff as my grandfather was an electrician) but I wouldn't mind easing up on how much I use the old stuff so I don't wear them out too much.

Feedback?

Eleven extra dollars on those damn Orbis pliers. I didn't see the two-pack! Anyways, I got the dykes, needle noses, and combos. I like them just as much as my Knipex. You're right on the sub-brand btw.
