So I have every size of Knipex cobra. I’ve been a diesel mechanic 20 years. But now that I’m in an industrial plant setting. It’s almost like channelock work better on plastic pipe couplings and some
Plumbing stuff I do. And don’t tear stuff up as bad. What’s your favorite?

The bigger teeth of the channellock or most other adjustable wrenches works better on softer materials.

*meant pliers, auto correct got me again.

It's better to have both options if you have the room. The cobras can be to aggressive on softer materials.

Knipex Cobra are made to grab hexagonal objects and round objects.

If you have a plumbing fitting that's round with flat sections in between, the straight jaws of the Channellock may be better.

Definitely keep a pair or two of 430’s or 440’s in my bag as well as 12” Cobras. Sometimes layers of paint, generations of grease or globs of pipe dope clog Cobra’s fine teeth and adjustment mechanisms. For seriously gooey work, out come the old faithful blue Channellocks.

I really, really like my Cobra's when I am on the job, but working on my personal junk vehicles, lawnmowers, tractors and the occasional fabrication I find Channellocks to work much better.

Looking at the new adjustable water pump plier from Snap on. May need to add to the tool box.
