Any body else got a thing for Frost's Mora knives? I learned about them on a hunting and camping forum a few years ago and have had one clipped to my cart, one in the truck, one in my camping pack, and few around the house ever since.

Harry Epstein recently started carrying Mora knives. They're made in Sweden and really Low priced.

I recently bought this one. But the handle is dark red, not hi-vis red like in this pic.

I snapped a couple pics of mine. Pretty nice for $8.50, if you ask me.

Good knives, the ones I have take well to sharpening on japanese stones too. I'm also a spyderco/benchmade guy, but nothing beats a knife you make. Doing stock removal now, lots of fun!

I have the one Stephen has except mine is blackened carbon steel with a red handle. The carbon ones stay sharp even better, just rust. they are absolutely incredible for $8. I have another from Kellam knives that was more money, but a much nicer looking knife. Still cuts like a sharpened laser, though.

Spyderco and Benchmade for me :)

I'd definitely go with benchmade, quality knives, a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Gerber is another good brand, even though the have made their $$$$$$$$$$$ through alot of military sales!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good looking knives, might have to pick me up a couple!!!!!!!!!

My two favorite EDC's are Spyderco's; I've got a Delica 4 with a ZDP189 blade that's my primary carry and a larger Military with the digicam scales and black S30V blade that I carry when the situation calls for it. :)

My daily is a Chris Reeve Sebenza, but those Swedish knives cut better on a lof of things - zero edge geometry is the trick.

I just checked that knife out, it looks extremely solid. Impressive. Do you have the S35VN blade? - THAT is really interesting.

My grandpa gave me this Stockman knife not too long ago. I carry it every day. I think it's a Buck but there is no marking. He had it for many years and passed it down to me!

Moras are a great buy for the money. I own three of them(all in stainless) and they are great for outdoors and indoors. I originally bought them for camping/hiking/kayaking but found that they are useful for so many more tasks. And if I damage one, it's no big deal because they are so affordable.

I carry Benchmades and Spydercos for my daily carry folders, but sometimes you just want a good fixed blade.

Definitly solid. I used to be really into knives and have a ton of them, but this was what I decided was the ultimate folder. Tried to make myself carry a fixed blade, but the pocket clip, one hand folder is so convenient! The Sebenza is ultimately simple and strng and cuts very well. Mine was from some years back and I think my blade is BG42. My favorite knife steel is A2, but it can rust pretty easy.

I grew up with Mora knives and always used them since they are good quality, readily available and affordable. These are all stainless blades.

I would venture a guess that that knife was made by Schrade in Ellenville New York. The picture is a little bit blurry, but I don't see any hinge pins ground flush with the bolsters. That would mean it's made using the keyhole construction method that's a sign of a Schrade knife. That and the blades and scales look like they are made by Schrade. It's a nice knife and also very cool that it was handed down to you.

Moras are great knives, especially for the price. I picked up two Marttiini knives last year and used them while hunting (and they worked great), and keep meaning to pick up a set of Woodsknife knives. I love the puukko style - a lot more classic and useful than most of the "tactical" stuff made these days. Fallkniven makes some great stuff, but it's priced a bit above what I can justify spending for a working knife.

I have a Zero Tolerance 0300 as my daily carry, just because I quite often need a big chunky knife while in the lab, and a belt knife would get in the way (not to mention, get quite a few funny looks). Spyderco Police or a Kewshaw Tyrade are my normal backup knives.

On my latest camping trip my brother arrived with a Mora knife, I was very impressed with the knife, even more so considering the price.

Anyone have an opinion on a knife specifically for whittling? I just started messing around with whittling and I thought I'd get a dedicated knife for it, or at least an entry level one.

I have one of the little Eric Frost laminated carbon steel wood carving knives. This isn't it but its just like mine.

The plastic sheath isn't very nice but the little knife is a joy to use.

Weirdly enough, even though its not got a big handle and I have fairly large hands I still find it very comfortable.
One of these days I'll get round to making a better sheath.

Anyone have any of the Falkniven offerings?

Nothing like as inexpensive as the Moras but good quality kit.

I don't have one, but I'd like to pick one up eventually. Just really, really expensive - not Reeve or Sebenza territory, but still expensive for a knife that'll see use.

Anyone made a knife out of a (power) hacksaw blade?
I need to find quality blade and make me a new one. Old one walked away years ago. Also good for carbon/gasket scrapers.

I'll play. Emerson cqc15 and my strider. Emerson has been my edc for any years of service without fail. I rarely carry the strider as it was a expensive knife, without fail i would lose it if i carried it. These knives are built like tanks.

Very impressive and I do like the design of both of them.

I have a Mora knife on my camping backpack's shoulder strap and one that clips on my coveralls at work. I like how easy it is to sharpen them and how well they stay clipped in until I pull them out to use them. They're also lightweight and fit great in my palm.

Mora and similar knifes are pretty much de facto on ships and boats around here.

I consider them pretty much disposable tools. Use them hard until they break or get lost forever.

honestly, I've never heard of a Mora... but after seeing some of the replies, and reading that they are affordable, I will be looking into them. Thanks!!
My everyday carry knife is a Benchmade "mel pardue" designed. Not sure exactly what model it is. It was SUPER sharp for the first 6 months, but lost it's edge. And even though I've always sharpened my own pocket knives, I can't get this one to take a good edge again. ie, it's not near as sharp as it was when new.
I've been told that I can send it to benchmade to have it sharpened.... but then I'll feel like I'm missing a finger or something while it's gone. lol
I do have a few kershaws that are up to snuff while it's away...... I suppose.. hahah

again, thanks to the OP... off to google I go....

I've seen those Bacho in my local tool store and it's rare to see anything recomended here ever for sale here in the sand pit so will get one next time in in.

My EDC is a Buck folding alpha huner (Rosewood and 154CM Steel) AND a leatherman wave. A proper knife and a "handy bodge" it tool.

I have a spyderco white super fine ceramic stone makes superb edge !
(Also not being funny but there is a lot of skill and method to sharpening a knife. I only learnt how to do it "properly" recently. ie make a bur, fold the bur, remove the bur, etc..)
