I got an email from tooltopia this week, as i'm sure many of you also did, hawking Knox impact socket sets.

https://www.tooltopia.com/search.aspx?find=KNXS1220FS+or+KNXS1227MS+or+KNXS1220FD+or+KNXS1227MD

However, i had to do a double take, Knox :wtf:

What are Knox impact Socket sets? :dunno:

I though Harbor Freight had sent the email since they on a run with names like quinn, bauer, doyle, etc. but, it was tooltopia. I'm kind of surprised at tooltopia. i expect to see things from brands like sunex or grey pneumatic on sale from them but, Knox? I just don't know what to think....:bounce:

I asked coo in chat on their website. Might be worth looking at if you're in the market impact sockets.

"I apologize for the delay. Knox is a new brand for us and I was researching for the information. Country of origin for the Knox impact sockets is Taiwan."

They look well designed those Knox impact sockets. Not a bad price, you can do better IMO with other generic Taiwan CR-V sockets on eBay but buying from Tooltopia would be good should you need warranty. Yup I'd if them Knox are CR-V, I'd buy those over sunnex, grey or many other offerings.

Only impact sockets I ever saw that would shatter instead of distorting when hammering on them were Pittsburgh Pro CR-V ones from Harbor Freight. They'd just explode. My guys broke a few of them before I tossed the rest in the bin before someone got hurt.

CR-MO sockets I've used would eventually distort, usually more so at the drive end, and need replaced, but only after a good bit of use. I've never wore one out so far it failed though, rather replaced it after it started looking wore out. Much better than worrying about them breaking imho.

The better impact sockets I've used don't say what the hell they are made of other than some sort of 'special alloy steel'.

Can we please get a report on these? You seem to be the only person with a set.

I hate to resurrect an old thread. Purchased the above Knox sockets from tooltopia and the sockets seem to be good quality. Have been using them for a month or so now. Only issue is I have 2x 18mm sockets and I’m missing a 19mm which is a pain, and partly how I found this thread. Havnt been able to get anywhere with tooltopias customer service site so was looking to find the company and wound up here. So product - good. trying to find the contact info for the company or any communication from tooltopia through their customer service site has been poor.....

Have you tried calling Tooltopia? If you go to their site on your phone there's a little phone icon at the top of the page. Tap it and it calls their 800 number.

Did ToolTopia do any closeout deals on these or did they just quietly disappear from the website recently? I looked at them maybe 1-1.5 months ago and they were still listed, but now all Knox impact sets are gone. It's too bad because those no-skip sets they had were cheaper than anything else that is that complete(the only downside being no stamped sizes).
