Anyone have the extra-longs? How do they compare to the Cornwells? I was thinking about Cornwells or the old Matco extra-longs, but I wouldn't object to the Macs either.

I have these wrenches in "long" length and love them. The square beam feels really solid and doesn't hurt to hang on nearly as much as a blade type body IMO. USA is stamped on them too:thumbup:

I have long KS2's in 6 - 24mm and they are very nice wrenches. I prefer my Hazets, but I would take both over Flankdrives.

Why would you take either of those over a set of Snappy's? I'm honestly curious, I've only ever used Snappy and Craftsman. I've broken numerous of my friends Pittsburgh Forge ;)

The Hazets have a kind of off-set box end that makes it easier to clear fasteners close to the one you are turning and I find the square beam of the KS2's much more comfortable than the narrow edge of a Flankdrive.

EXTRA EXTRA longs are the cats meow; I think that you can identify these with two "L"s in the part numbers. I have a set of the "Long" editions, but not the Extra Long editions. I would jump on them if the opportunity appeared.

Yes, I am with Merc on this. The boxed end wrenches are all that in their material thickness.

Other than comfort, for those of you who have used the KS2's and Flankdrives side by side, do you find one gribs the fastner better than the other?

I ask because I'm a fan of the FDP combo's, I don't care about marred fasteners. I'm not sure if Mac has anything similar to the FDP. If I need to clear another bolt head or the like, I would generally grab a socket and ratchet or a high offset wrench.

This is getting out of control. =p I am deffinately interested in the KS2, and I'm hoping they are the xtra long ones? Anywho, I want the longest ones they make. I already have SO's and was looking at adding another set. I am interested in both the Cornwell xtra longs and the Mac KS2 extra longs. I thought of going Mac for SAE and Cornwell for Metric to see which I like better.

Having used both. I think that you would be more than happy with the KS2 in Sae and Metric.

Could you measure the 6 and the 24 and tell me how long they are if it's not too much trouble?

I have the long, not the extra long:
6mm, M6CLKS is 126mm from tip of box end to tip of open end.
24mm, M24CLKS is 340mm from tip of box to tip of open end.

If I need to clear another bolt head or the like, I would generally grab a socket and ratchet or a high offset wrench.

I realise I can always go and get another tool, but it's still a PITA when I'm right there already and have 1 frickin bolt to undo. See the difference between my Mac KS2 13mm and my Hazet 600N 13mm:

Maybe I'll just get both? I heard Cornwell's "fit" fasteners better than just about anything else. What are your thoughts about this.

Merk, have you compared the KS2 and the Cornwell extra-long wrenches side by side? Are the Cornwells that much better?

I have the MAC ks2 long covering 6-24mm and the Cornwell CW 10-19mm. The MACs are great but I agree with Merk, the Cornwell are in another legue. I will post pics later today.

Hey mormonmountain, Why'd you start this thread anyway?

Are looking to start a wrench collection?

I'm just upgrading my tools, and want a couple different brands to choose from. I was also curious which wrench was longer between the Cornwell extra longs and the KS2's. So the Cornwells fit pretty nice eh? I may just stick with my original plan and grab a set of each.

I've owned the original MAC wrenches (right before they started putting knuckle saver on them) They were very nice and a very similiar shape to the Cornwells. Nice wrenches...but I kept the Cornwell.

I chose the Cornwell X-Longs above all others, having considered all the companies that I knew made a true X-Long patter. (~10" long for the 9/16")

Any Questions?

Cornwell WCP17LST
7 Piece Extra Long Combination Wrench Set
12 Point, 3/8" to 3/4" (Full Polish)

Size Length

3/8" 7 3/8"
7/16" 8"
1/2" 9 1/8"
9/16" 10"
5/8" 10 7/8"
11/16" 11 3/4"
3/4" 12 5/8"

Since the tool websites often don't put up detailed pictures of their product, I offer these pictures of the Cornwell X-Long wrench set. It is even harder to check these out if you don't have a cornwell dealer in your area.

I'm very impressed by these, VERY comfortable in the hand.

Yeah those are the shiz...........I may get a set of 10-19 next week depending on what kind of deal the CW dude will give me. Would you say they're as long or longer than the KS2's? Thanks for the pics!

I can list the measurements of both brands if you want ... shall I list the lengths of the metrics, or the standards?

Either or.............dunna matter. Just curious what the difference is for like wrenches. Those pics are making me wanna be a CW man though heh. I think I'm getting a quote from the CW dealer tomorrow unless he doesn't make his normal stop.

Those pictures have pretty much convinced me to go for the Cornwells since I have been in the same dispute as to what will replace my raised panel Craftmans for ages. Not to mention my Cornwell dealer is better and probably much more reasonably priced. My Cornwell line wrenches are hard to beat.
