I have a Kobalt ratchet model 03030, that I broke. I am trying to find replacement parts and have heard that Snap on may carry a replacement gear that would fit. Anyone know if this is true and if so what is the part number. It is an older ratchet that I believe is made by Williams. It broke the 3/8" socket adapter part clean in half. I didn't have the right tools with me and used a cheater bar (oops ). Just hoping I can find a part to repair it instead of trading it in for the replacement junk they sell now.

have you tried going into lowes and asking, when I spoke to the someone in my local store about a query similar to this I was told they replace it with off the shelf parts or they can rebuild them if they have a rebuild kit instore, or in some cases can send them back to kobalt for repair.

maybe worth a try.

looks like a williams 31001, 38 tooth?

which i beleive is also the same as blue point 3/8 QR BPRFR938,

I don't think the Blue Point is the same. The handle shapes are similar, but I think that's the extent of it. The Kobalt was made in the US by Williams, while the Blue Point is made in Taiwan.

I've never heard of anyone successfully swapping Blue Point kits into their Williams-made Kobalt ratchets, but perhaps it's possible.

To the OP-
I've never heard of Lowes carrying any rebuild parts for these. Unless some other Williams USA ratchet parts fit them, then you might be out of luck.

Perform a search. I think there are other threads on this topic.

Attached is a pic of the Blue Point. Note that the cover plate is different.

according to a few sites that model of williams is made in Taiwan? which is what made me suggest the blue point version.

OP get a photo of the other side, overall length and the inside.

You're a little off the mark. Remember, Williams has USA made and imported tools.

The Blue Point ratchet you talked about and the imported Williams ratchet are identical and are made in Taiwan.

But look at the pic I posted and look at the OP's ratchet. The cover plate design is different. The similarities are only cosmetic with the weird handle design.

The Williams-made Kobalt ratchets were made in the USA and are different than the Taiwanese Williams and Blue Point ratchets. I don't believe they use the same mechanism. I've never seen anyone say you can put a Williams imported ratchet mechanism in the USA ratchets.

The OP's ratchet may use the same mechanism as the USA Bahco ratchets that were sold around the same time period. Those, too were made by Williams. Those were also sold in a Harley-Davidson branded set of tools made by Williams.

This should be what the other side of the OP's ratchet looks like. Note the differences:

Well, the only solution that I have found to this problem is to order the same model ratchet from ebay, ( so that it matches the kit it came from ) then take the damaged ratchet back to lowes and exchange for new one. It just means I will have another spare ratchet. Thanks for the input Guys.

Try an "Allen" brand rebuild kit for one of their pear head ratchets. The heads look the same and I'm thinking they're both owned by Danaher.
