Just bought one today. It has a good feel to it. For $29, I think it was a good deal.

Lol can you get us a picture?

Aww, hell, Jim! Just go to Lowes website! :lol_hitti

BTW, the Kobalts share a striking resemblence to the Allen line... except for the knulring on the Allen handles.

I agree, though, the Kobalts are nice. I have a non-flex 3/8 that I use alot.

haha nice! How does it compare to the craftsman flexhead? I paid 20 for the craftsman version I have, and its "un polished", but the head looks similar. Thats a nice ratchet ya got.

I went and looked the Craftsman flex head. I live across the street from a mall, comes in handy alot. The had two different ones. One that was the basic Craftsman design and the other was the polished pearl head design. I think that there are more teeth on the Kobalt one. The feels better in my hands. Just my opinion.

There is no doubt that the ratchet is nice. IMHO, it's nicer than even the full polished Cman ratchets. I have Both the Cman and the Kobalt in 3/8 drive (I belive that they are both 36 teeth). If you take them apart, though, the internals appear identical. They may differ in heat-treatment and/or hardness, though.

Maybe that's because they are made by the same company. I have a KD and its the same damn thing. Only the shape of the grip and the name stamped on it differ.

Kobalt ratchets have less "slop" in them compared to the craftsmans though.

Regarding flex ratchets-
I bought the locking 3/8 flex head from Snap-On.I don't like it.It's OK to get the socket onto the fastener in a tight spot, but a PIA to work with.I much prefer my old SK.I'm going to trade the locking unit for a standard flex.

They have 2 different kinds of non locking flex handles... one with indents and a ball (like craftsmans) and they have a friction model. Get the friction model, I like it alot better, You might too.

I dont know. Thats sorta like saying just because I can take the guts from a craftsman ratchet and put them into a standard matco, they are the same tool. I think the Kobalt line is modeled after the allen line... look at thier wrenches, the kobalts are almost identical aside from not being polished.

In the end, it doesnt really matter.

Not always true. Different quality control specs on one manf's line may not allow internal parts to make it into the other manf's product.
