I guess I'm gonna stop on the way home tomorrow... I don't know if I hope they are off sale or not. It's not like I "need" another 3/8" ratchet, but what does need have to do with anything...

Need? I didn't "need" another ratchet either lol. But I did need the spark plug sockets
One were Chinese cheapies. I.e shorter then should be. And didn't actually grab the plug when it was ready to be removed because the end would hit the extension. When the other half says its a good deal, you know its right. When you buy it when she says no, you did even better! Lol

Well, i went to my local Lowes and they couldn't find them. Not in tools and now in lawn care. So i left.

Ordered online to pick up from the one by my office and they had it ready in Leeds than an hour.

That is a nice ratchet. Compared to my $20 craftsman of the same style, the kobalt is much nicer. The kobalt has a metal selector (vs the plastic on the craftsman), more teeth, it's polished finish, and the head is not as easy to move position to position, so it should stay in place better.

Funny, I didn't even look at the sockets... I just threw them in the box that will be my son's pile o' tools when he gets a little older. I'm most interested in the ratchet and extension...

The price is an everyday price. It's not marked as sale or clearance at the stores I've been to.

Yep, I discovered that yesterday. I was expecting it to be on some end cap where they put the special promo items, but it was with the open stock sockets.

Ditto. Saw these in Denver at a Lowe's last week, I was looking for something else and happened to see them.....regular price at that store.

That takes time pressure off, but doesn't take away fact that it's a good deal for a solid ratchet with few accessories thrown in.

Is it me or do other also don't care for plastic handles on their ratchet. I prefer the simple metal handle - it handles better in tight spots and is easier to clean up after a job.

That Craftsman seems like it is derived from the universally hated raised panel one.

I picked one up tonight and am very pleased with it. I did notice that the T15 screw that holds the head on wasn't fully seated. It was tight, but I was able to tighten it a few more turns.

I would recommend if you also have a T9 bit or driver, to take it apart and lube it. The one I received was bone dry.

Happened to stop by Lowe's today to pick up some other things. Saw the point-of-sale display loaded with these ratchet kits. I happened to stumble upon this thread earlier in the week. Went and checked prices to make sure I was still getting a deal...

-The ratchet itself retails for $29
-The extension is like $7
-Plus the sockets, lets say you're getting about $40 of stuff for $20.

I also own a shorter Kobalt 3/8" ratchet with the same head (non-flex). I love it! Solid, and very smooth to use. Reliable stuff, and serviceable.

I resisted this purchase at first. I already had a long flex ratchet and those plug sockets in the garage box. But not in the truck box. Ah-ha. A reason to buy! I surrendered.

But the real satisfaction was taking both the new and the old to my son's house (another town) because he needed a tune-up on his Chevy truck, to include new plugs. With both ratchets/sockets, we were able to work together on opposite banks of the V8 engine. An unexpected moment of happiness in a Dad's life.

I picked up the ratched last week and got to use it over the weekend, but before I did I opened it up and packed it with white lithium grease and it is so smooth and quiet, you can barely hear the ratcheting! I'm glad I bought it.

My lowes had a display full of these. The ratchet alone cost $30 so for 10 less i get an extension and 2 spark plug sockets for the house. The ratchet is almost as nice as my long flex gearwrench that i use at work as my go to. Now this will be my home go to and i may get another for my tool bag.

opened mine up today and il second the above post, bone dry. also once i had tightened up the casing screws it removed alot of the freeplay in the head and felt alot better. overall construction and quality is fantastic for the $$.

Picked up a set 2 days ago. My first nice ratchet beside borrowing my dads snap on's. Definitely a nice ratchet. Like others I opened mine up first thing and lubed it.

Only complaint is the head moves rather easily even Smith the screw tight and I have a habit of accidentally hitting the direction selector.

At my Lowe's they were not with the rest of the sockets and etc. For some reason they were an aisle away with some ViceGrips and files and other stuff. You might ask someone if you are back there again. There didn't seem to be any good reason at my store for them to be somewhere else...it wasn't a "special" or sale section or anything, it was as if they'd seen a space and stuck them in there. I wasn't even looking for them, I just recognized them from this ongoing forum discussion and happened to chuckle to myself that they were not even with the sockets and other ratchets.

Got a chance to check another lowes which is odd for me, i dont get to go to lowes more than once or twice a year let alone getting to go to two different ones a few weeks apart.

Anyways this time i checked every single isle since i had time to kill, nothing.

So i asked, they had no idea what i was talking about. The sales associate got the manager and even he had no idea what i was talking about, he swears that this kit does not exist and never has.

But i heard it on the internet! Its gotta be true, they cant put anything on the internet that isnt true! Lol

I have a chance to check yet another lowes tomorrow, slim chance but possible i might be near one.

At the Lowes I got mine from, this set was with the lawnmower/tractor maintenance items. It's nowhere near the tools. Look in the tractor/lawnmower section.

My local Lowes seems to be the same way. I have gone in there to check them out and they are no where to be found in the tool section. I even checked online and it said they had 23 in stock. Might have to mosey on over to the lawnmowers and see if they have them there.

Same here, both stores said 22 in stock.

I checked the lawnmower section, nothing, i checked every isle and every shelf.

I found it in one of those pop up displays sitting in an aisle right by the RV supplies, truck tool boxes, hitches. I guess that would be as close to an automotive section as Lowe's would get.

Give them the item number at the store and have them look it up on their computer. If they have it in stock, their computer should tell them where it is at.

Walking around willy nilly looking for it is not going to get you the same results.
