I finally picked one of these up today and still can't believe the ratchet by itself is $30. I think I'll pick up a couple more tomorrow if they're still around.

I just picked one up today. They had 3 left. Can you say temptation!

Also bought one of the new lighted 1/2" drive ratchets for $12.97. I'm not sold on the light but a 1/2" drive ratchet for that price, I couldn't resist.

Saw it online for $9.88. Went to store and they raised the price to $18. Wonder if they will lower it again.

Did you have them price check it? They had it marked incorrectly at the store when I bought mine, but it rang up as the online price.

Made an upgrade to the locking set screw. Now I don't have to have an allen wrench to tighten it down.

Just stopped by the local Lowes.

Back up to $17.97 here. They were down to something like $12.58 but only for about a week before they went back up. (Online price also shows up as $17.97 from here).

I was hoping to pick up a few more at the sub $10 price, but doesn't look like that's going to happen. Lowes' pricing is screwy.

Not really - I came home the other way because of construction and had to drive right past Lowe's anyway. It's only a mile out of my way home anyway.

Not really

Next closest Lowes is about 40 miles away. Not worth the time/gas/bridge tolls.

Frankly, with Lowes dumping all the German and USA tools, there's really no reason to even go in a Lowes (or Sears) again.

If I want Chinese **** I can buy it for less at HF.

Price goes back to $17.97 once the store if out of stock.
My local store used to have them for $9.98, but the price just went up to $17.97. The website shows that they are in stock at my store, and when I put quantity 100 into the cart, it says 15 are available.

Hmmm. Interesting data point.

My experience went as so:
Day1: I saw $9.88 online for my store.
Day2: I bought the last 3 in-store for $9.88.
Day3: I see online price go to $17.97
Day4: I returned ones I had bought at $15.97
Day5: I see online price go to $9.88
Day 10 or so: I see online price go to $17.97. I assume someone had bought the ones I returned.

This thread has been going on for the last 5 months of them slowly sliding down on price. If you snoozed, you lose and nobody to blame but themselves.

Still costs less than when the thread started, but no longer considered a "hot deal"? Well played Lowes. Lowes has been king of this forum for a while now.

I didn't really consider them a 'hot deal' at $18. They are just a solid, nicely finished 72 tooth ratchet.

The only extra feature was the hinged handle, but that is bettered by the now-common pivot handle and double-hinged handles. A pivot handle is on-axis when upright and is thus easier to spin and reaches more recessed fasteners. A double-hinged handle offers the chance to clear additional obstacles.

At $10 they are a pretty good deal, especially if you put some value on the extension. Back at $18, they haven't gotten any hotter for me.

Yup. $20 for a $30 ratchet, extension, and 2 spark plug sockets. I was happy to pick up my first ratchet for $20. I have to admit, I actually felt a little guilty picking more up at under $10 a piece.

I just got my second one, this time for 9.98. It actually rang up at 20 but I showed the cashier the sticker on the hook and she adjusted the price:beer:
