Went to my local Lowes this morning to pick up the metric/sae 1/4 drive socket sets for $4.97, and found another gem I haven't seen posted yet.

The Kobalt 3 piece locking-plier set was on sale for $9.98, half off original price. Even as backup pliers, thought they were worth a shot. Haven't tried them yet, but they seem decent.

Those are actually pretty nice . I have some and the jaws line up good and the screw doesn't get jammed up like the other cheaper vice grips.

Got them in the mail today. Total junk... I might be able to get $10 worth out of them but I wouldn't buy them again.

They are junk. First the advertised 10" pliers are actually 9". Secondly, there are so much play that the jars never aligned when squeezed shut. Thirdly, the conform grips seem to get more in the way than providing any comfort. 5mins after open the package, I knew they were going back...

My dad has some...not impressed. I get mad enough at Taiwan vise grips....these would end up in a lake somewhere.

Well damn, I thought they looked like a good deal so I bought 2 sets of them for $8 a set with a coupon... Even at less then $3ea they are junk? Maybe i'll return 1 and keep one, planned on giving 1 as a gift later in the year but I don't like giving junky tools....

Wow, some of the replies are really surprising to me. I'm not talking Snap-On quality here folks, but for $3 per item, I can throw them away after a single use if they got me out of a bind and then not feel bad about it. With realistic expecations, I think they can serve their purpose.

I had to remove the bolt and grind the end down because there was a defect at the bottom of it. It prevented the bolt from tightening the pliers beyond half way. So far they have not broken but I doubt they'll last very long.

Returned both sets I bought, kept the cresent wrenches though... Figured even lowes site had like 2 star rating on the vice grips with a bunch of reviews so they must ****. The cresents had pretty good reviews though and I really need some so kept them...

I'd rather spend $10 to get a single properly made pair of pliers from cripedistribution than getting a set of three that makes me feel cheap and disgusted.
