anyone know is Lowes will be restocking the 3000 series tool boxes? I was looking at the white one around Christmas time and figured since I didn't need it right away I would wait but I haven't seen them anywhere.

Rumor is that Craftsman will be replacing the Kobalt boxes. The other boxes at my local store are all being clearanced out.

I believe that is true for all Lowes. At our local store, the only Kobalt boxes not on clearance are the stainless steel ones with shallow drawers all the way down, I forget which series that is.

Plenty of Craftsman boxes in top stock, and I don't see how they'd have room for both brands out on the floor.

Craftsman boxes are going out on the sales floor the week of May 14. I'm hoping for a sweet clearance deal on a Kobalt box right before then.

I bought a 2000 series top chest a few months back and really like it. I thought I read somewhere that these were a little nicer than the Craftsman/Husky/US General.

I would agree, but not an expert, at least the Husky ones I've seen at THD because I shop there a lot. I'm planning on getting a matching 2000 bottom unit. The Lowes website lists them 10% off, which I don't consider "clearance."

I don't know much about the 3000 series. :dunno:

They are discontinued from what Ive seen. Go to your local Lowes and look at the overheads. Sometimes they will still have them but don't show up in stock in their system. I bought the all white one a year ago and when I went to pick it up nobody in the store thought they had it but it was there after some searching.

I know this is an old thread, but I believe the Kobalt 2000 series is made by Waterloo.
The 3000 series looked to be a different manufacturer and style of box.

I needed an “off the shelf” top box some years ago and bought a 2000 series and I am very happy with it.

If you were to ask me, the new Craftsman product looks nice but no where near the heft or build quality of the 2000 series.
