Kobalt 30gal Compressor - What is this fitting for?

On a twin cyl 30gal Kobalt compressor, what is the plug at the back with the red cap? Is it for lubing the shaft bearing?

Don't you have any technical literature ? It usually comes with the

machinery. Unless this is a used item that came with no papers...

Do a google search of the manufacturer and model number.

You should be able to get some info there. If not, try Manuals.com.

If I were to make a guess, I'd say that it is a crankcase breather.

(But, don't quote me.)

Good guess. I have that compressor and the manual says it is a breather. No other reference to it in the manual other than an exploded art pic.
