Is this box comparable to the Harbor Freight one? The reason I ask is it is on sale for 4 hundrend and something. The nearest harbor freight is an hour away. Just wonder if it would be worth the drive to get the harbor freight one or if this one is comparable or better? I don't mind the drive and yes I would save a hundred bucks. I guess when it comes down to it I will ultimately have to make a decision just trying to get comparables.

One down side I see to the lowes box is it is stainless. If it is anything like my wifes appliances it will be impossible to keep clean. Is that the experience others have had with their stainless boxes or am i just assuming something?

The Kobalt stainless is a worthless peice of ****. The HF US General is the best bang for the buck in a new box on the planet.

Ya, that's kind of what I am thinking. I finally found some reivews and one of the biggest complaints seems to be the rivets ripping loose on the drawer slides. Thanks.

What issues have you had with the Kobalt stainless boxes? I've thought about picking up one of their 26/27" tops, to use as a bench box. I did notice that the plastic/rubber on the handles were falling off of them in the stores though.

I've got the kobalt 41" stainless steel box. I got mine on sale. I do agree I think the HF box is a better deal.

I dont have any problems with durability so far after 2 years. I like the electrical outlets on the side.

When a drawer gets weighed down, it dosent slide as easily. The lock mechanism is rough and sloppy. There's only 1 drawer that is really wide. I've got a few longer breaker bars and pry bars, I wish they didn't have to go into the drawers diagonally. Also annoying is that the drawers, fully extended, there s still 2 inches or so or the drawer that is covered.

They have plastic ball bearing in the slides, the drawer bottoms are thin, the rivets that hold the drawers in fall out. These are just what I notice in the store. I've seen several in the store with the drawer falling down on one side.

I'm a firm beleiver that anytime you have to add a stereo, speakers, or refridgerator to a toolbox you are covering up for poor quality. At first sight I thought they were pretty cool. It didn't take long to burst that bubble. I have seen a few of the newer Blue ones that looked somewhat better made.
