I have been searching for a compressor and think I have settled on this one for my garage. I am sure there are those out there who would disagree with my choice.

My question is that the Lowes in TX no longer seems to carry them in their stores. They are still for sale on line. Does anyone know if Lowe's is discontinuing carrying these in the store? My store has several Quincy compressors but no upright Kobalts.

Anyone have any inside info?

All I know is the 2 Lowe's near me only have the large compressors that are Kobalt brand. No other brand of large compressor.

This one seems like the same as the Kobalt

It does looks like the CH, Porter Cable, and the Kobalt are all same.........and all have the same specs

My store had them several months ago but I noticed a Quincy 60 gallon showed up. I went to check last night and the only kobalt was a portable one. All Quincy now.

I was just wondering if someone heard that Lowes was moving away from their compressor line. Maybe it's just regional.

I think the CH, Kobalt and Husky are all the same pump and motor. I'll check out my local TS.

You can still order online but I like to touch.

I can't say for certain, but I've seen several lines of compressors that appeared identical except for paint color and label. There is probably some large manufacturer out there who makes a/c units for who ever wants them in adequate quantities.
My red Porter Cable is 80 gal., two stage, 7.5 hp and produces 175 tank pressure, and it came from Sam's Club. You may wish to check factory specs and warranty from several others and pick what is the best deal out there. Be aware that the cheaper units often have smaller hp and duty cycle ratings, thus the lower price.

I researched the **** outta compressors early this year. I ended up with the 60 gallon Campbell hausfield. It is USA built. USA built tank also. Mexico motor and pump. The other box store versions of the same compressor had China parts and build. Plus this one is 155psi and dark charcoal color. I picked it up from Tractor Supply. Was $749 and ended up getting it for $350!!! In store after Xmas sale along with printed online coupon saved me huge. I could only find this version online and at Tractor Supply. In my opinion you can't go wrong with any of these for the money. I would love to have a nice Quincy, but price was killing me.

Campbell hausefeld used to make the kobalt brands
Then lowes started carring the IR compressors.
Then they started carring the Quincy

I called the Lowes customer service and for some reason, they stopped selling these in TX. Not sure why.

I have researched the **** out of compressors and came to the point yesterday that I am just going to go with the Kobalt version of the Sanborn motor because of price plus I get 5% off or possibly a 10% coupon.

Closest compressor to me is in Hope Springs, AR.

There is a website called aircompressorsdirect that has the Quincy version that I was looking shipped for free and tax free. But, it is almost double the Kobalt version. I'm not saying they are equal but for my use, not sure I can justify double.

I may just table this again...

Have you checked Northern Tool? North Star is their compressor. And how about Home Depot Husky?

I don't think I've seen anything other than Kobalt at our Lowes. My friend just bought the 33-gal Kobalt unit and is happy with it. The first 3 days he's had it he's ran a die grinder for hours and hours a day. Seems to be holding up well so far.

I picked up a 60-gal Curtis that is built like a brick *********! 5HP Baldor motor, massive pump, all made in the USA. My 550lb capacity dolly was screaming under it!

I'm in the process of finding a spot in the garage for it and getting it wired and plumbed (bought the breaker and wire for it Monday).
