Has anyone compared the quality of the Taiwan vs the China wrenches?
The chinese ones are a little more scratchy on the chrome than the Taiwan ones. Some of them have big scratches too and paint from the line is smeared on other places on a few. I picked this set up yesterday because I needed a nice set of metric and SAE wrenches to keep in a car (and I have a lowes by my house making it much easier to warranty versus sears, HF, HD, Menards, etc). They do have knock-off flank drive technology on the box end (not on the open end though) like the Taiwan versions.
I actually bought them and then ended up changing a battery in 20 degree weather with fierce winds later in the day. The tool was freezing, the nuts were completely stuck (no PB blaster either), and the access to the bolts meant I couldn't get the entire box end around the nut. No rounded nuts, no broken tools, and nothing else damaged. Battery was replaced in 20 minutes.
For $30 I'd get them, especially if you don't care much about the chrome/looks of the wrenches. For $50... maybe. $100 is out of the question.
