i work in a shop and all of the techs have the streamlight that cost $140.00 and i just couldnt see myself spending that much on a flashlight. so i went to lowes and got a kobalt flashlight for $40.00 bucks with 90 lumens, its got two modes and its all aluminum plus a lifetime warranty. i thought i did pretty good what do yall think. the techs make fun of me for buying but i think its a good flashlight

What kind of shop do you work in? A lot of Aviation techs swear by Streamlight stingers.

My go-to flashlights are Streamlight Stylus Pro, and the 1x AAA version, i forget its name.

Got any pics of your Kobalt? :)

You have to wonder about anyone who is going to give you **** for the type of flashlight you have.

If you want a Streamlight you can get an LED Scorpion for around $60.

Overall I've had great luck with the newer 2AA 3watt LED mini maglite. Even upgraded my 3D and 2D maglites with their new factory LED module bulb and have been very pleased. I'm not talking about those crappy aftermarket 1watt options from Nit-Ize either.

My opinion - A good flashlight doesn't have to cost you $100+ and $200 after that per year to keep in operation. I was served just fine for years with $16 to $20 flashlights.

Unless it's hot pink colored I just can't see giving anyone a hard time because of their choice in flashlights.

They can only give you **** if you let them. ;)

I've been flash light shopping, looking in the $20 to $40 range, mostly Fenix, but also some non branded cheap stuff. Without taking it apart and knowing what to look for its hard to say what quality the Kobalt is, and lumens stated by the manufacturer often vary from reality. As long as you like it and it does what you need none of that matters anyway.

Fenix E20 looks nice, but no reduced power mode or strobe ($35 at amazon).

OTOH this one is $11 shipped with 130 4 star reviews.
