The more I use Kobalt tools, the more I like them. Pretty much the opposite effect I get from Husky these days.

Looks nice, but QR ratchets and my fat hands usually don't get along very well...

If it has the same insides of my kobalt flex head then it's a good ratchet. I use mine all the time.

I have Kobalt socket sets in both vehicles, and the ratchets are great. All of mine are made in Taiwan.

i have the ergo ratchets and the pear shaped ratchets in all 3 sizes

nice heavy tools. i also picked up the direct drive or "gearless" set. i gave the sockets to my five year old and kept the ratchet. very good tool, great for minimum swing clearance scenarios. my go to ratchets are the pears, however.

my only complaint is the handle can feel a bit "thin" and thus feels "sharp" when you really get on it. otherwise very comfortable.

The Kobalt's with screws on the underside are the same as the same-size HF composites, are we sure that one is the exact same with screws on the top?

Both the HF composites and Kobalts are great ratchets.

went back today and brought it home. It just felt right in hand, and the 72 tooth sure feels pretty smooth. Its for homeowner use, hopefully it will hold up well, for $30 I guess you can't expect the best.

I think you are a lot closer to the "best" than you realize, I have 3/8" ratchets from every manufacturer worth discussing, including Snap-On, Mac, Matco, Cornwell, SK, Armstrong, Williams, Carlyle, Koken, Proto, Plomb, HF, Easco, and Craftsman and this particular ratchet is possibly my favorite, definitely top 3, if you look at ergonomics, feel, handling, durability, back drag, ease of warranty - I can't think of a non-flex ratchet I like better, actually - so good job!

The only thing I wish is that they would come out with an extended length version, my old Snap-On built Kobalt from 1998 is about 11" long and that is a great length.
