Maybe I'm old and set in my ways, but I just don't like oil-free compressors. Every one I've seen is noisy, and under heavy use they tend to self-destruct.

For about the same money you can buy a portable oil lubed compressor that will probably last forever. One suggestion would be that, whatever brand you buy in that price range, expect to find crud and leftover metal residue in the compressor. Before you use it, fill the compressor with oil and drain it a couple of times until it comes out clean. I did that with a cheap HF compressor about 20 years ago and I got a whole bunch of metal shavings and gunk in the first change. Once the oil came out clean I fired it up and it's been working fine ever since, with no issues.
