Did Lowes discontinue the Sockets for Life progam? I know this is more of a gimmick marketing ploy but the website to register your sockets has been down a few days. I bought a few sets on clearance and thought I would register them anyway. Just curious if the marketing never worked out and they shut it down.

If memory serves, it allowed you to get replacement sockets if you lost one. But, I think the shipping and handling cost made it basically the same cost as buying a replacement.

That was the idea, not to warranty a broke socket

their sockets are damn cheap, i would just spend the 2-5 bucks to get a replacement next time i went there for other things.

if i lose something, i feel responsible for it.

Its a ripoff in my opinion.

You pay $4.95 shipping per socket if its lost or stolen.

Heres the problem. If its lost and I need it NOW, im just going to go to the store and pay the $2-4 per socket and have it now for less money.

Even if I dont need it now, chances are Im going to drive past Lowes or be in lowes in the next few days, so I can just buy the socket and have it cheaper and sooner than having them mail one to me.

Great Idea in concept, but its a ripoff.

Thanks for the responses. I know the pricing is way off for a replacement, I just wanted to know if it was still a thing Lowes does. As I write this the site is still down.

If you break one just bring it to the customer service counter and they will replace it. If you lose it, well thats on you to buy another.

Yeah I knew the site was there, but it was down for several straight days. I did not know if it was a tech glitch or if it was being pulled down and phased out. It was up and running the other day so I guess it was a tech glitch. I doubt it will ever be cost effective to actually use the program, I just was curious to know if it was still going and it looks like it is.
