Was cruising through Lowes the other day and say they had their Kobalt stubby wrenches marked down to $14 from $25 per set. Thought that was a pretty good price, but how often do you use stubbys. Probably would be useful to just have on hand for that price? I don't see them on their website so maybe they are getting rid of them?

Think they are coming out with their extreme set with the spline design. But they are pretty nice stubby wrenches. They just came out with the combo wrench with the spline design.

I have a set and I think they are rather good for Taiwan. Very good finish. You aren't going to be putting that much torque on a set of stubbies.

They never got that low at the lowes I goto. They left the tag on the display rack. And they would not honor the 12.50 2 months ago, as the pack had the full price. And went for a 10 piece set instead. Waited to long for the 12.50. But it would have been annoying to try to find the missing 3 sizes.

Only thing worse than a set with skips is there not even being singles available on the shelf to complete the set with skips! Drives me bonkers!

I hear you about not even getting option to fill the set. And with Stubby's you can find to many brands that carry loose stock besides craftsman.

Not sure if they're an exact match, but my Lowe's has individual stubbies for sale. They were like $5/each IIRC...meaning the 3 extras will cost you as much as the original 6.

they do have more sized, but they do not have a complete set. Think you can get 9 sizes in metric and I think they skip 9mm

If memory serves, my Lowe's only carries the exact same sizes that are in the set, individually. :-/

well lowes are pretty poorly sorted with their loose stocks. Allot of wrenches in the wrong spot at times. But I know you can not put a 10-19mm set together.

That's not true of my Lowes. I'm not sure if they have the "weird" sizes but they do have ones that are outside of the sets. The only problem is they are $7-8 each while the whole set is $14.

Just fyi, any time they have a price still on an item it is lowes policy to honor that price. Even if its sale, special ect. Push it and they have to honor it.

Have you tried Northern tool? They have a great selection of stubby wrenches have bought some larger metric sizes when in a pinch.

Do they make a 1 inch stubby? I really need one and can't seem to find one in any local stores.

Yup, Northern Tool. They sell a 1" Stubby. I have one. It's not Snap-on and it's made in China, but it is a good quality wrench. And it's only $6!

China not taiwan. Interesting thought their in-house brands were made in taiwan

They were and some of the tools on the shelves are still Taiwan. I've bought several sockets and wrenches over the last few months and several of the "unpopular" sizes of sockets had "Made in Taiwan" on the sticker. Most were "Made in China".

The wrenches and sockets have "Surface Drive" which is a "Easco" trademark. If memory serves, Easco is owned by Danaher.

So like a lot of Danaher's stuff, guess production has been moved to China.

Quality comparison of "Taiwan" to "China" stock seems about the same. Same fit and finish quality. I've found no gripes thus far; especially at the price point.

I'm not sure if I'm reading that right, but assuming you mean that a price tag on the item is lower than the retail price, over here and in the UK it's the law that they have to honour it....

It is the same in Germany as well.

But the there was the regular price tag on the item, but the sale price was on the rack where they were being displayed. And the sale guy said it was not the price of the item. But I was not a 100% happy with a skipped set. Spend couple of bucks more to get a full 10-19mm set.
