I searched and didn't find this posted, but I was in Lowe's checking on the Irwin blade deal. Going down one of the aisles I found a new Kobalt tool cart. They were still stacked on a pallet but from the box picture it looked good. Two foldable trays, drawers, assisted opening top, pry bar holders, etc. Wish I asked for a price but i'll see if I can find it on the site.

Couldn't find the price on the app or the website. I'll try to pass back by tomorrow to get a price. There wasn't a display of them set up near the tool boxes either. I hope they get one at some point though.

I might have to check one out.

Just a casual shake tells me that the new Kobalt boxes are better quality than the CM or Husky I've been eyeballing. I saw a chest at Sears tonight that was bragging about a 25lb. capacity drawers. 25 ******** pounds! I probably have 25 pounds just in extensions!

Crazy, I was at Lowes this morning and noticed that exact cart. I saw the price ending in 99. I cant remember if it was 299 or 199. I'm heading there tomorrow to grab some things and I'll grab a pic of the cart with the price listed for this thread.

Unless it's $99, I'd pass on that one and go with the Harbor Freight 5-drawer- you can get them for $169 with the right coupon. With only two drawers, you're not holding a whole lot in that cart, though the side shelves are nice to have.

Yea, I agree; the HF cart is a great value and has more drawers. Not too hard to add side shelves, look on the HF cart modification thread.

It wouldn't shock me if it was made in the same Chinese factory as the HF carts. There seem to be many design similarities.

Harbor Freight had their $229.99 box on sale last month for $99 and it is a nicer cart with one more drawer.
I have the $299.99 larger one. I got it for $149.99 last year. I went back and got all 4 or our sons one and 3 for the garnd sons. They are very nice with locking drawers so they don't swing out when you move them.

Kobolt is nice stuff but take a look at HF if you are near a store You migh like it better. They are always on sale for $129.99

When you go to Sears stay away from the boxes that say "Basic" in the description. These ones are made of much thinner gauge steel and the construction has been cheapified throughout (including 25 lb. slides). I could go on but that's probably a discussion for another thread.

Not that is even matters anymore, but here's the pic.

AAANNddddd it's sideways, just like my avatar. Seems to be an issue when dealing with the iphone photos...sorry!

for what it's worth, I took the time to check the cart out. I'm not interested in buying one but thought I'd give it the once over for those of you who are interested. The thing felt pretty stout! I was impressed. The drawers were very smooth (duh, it's brand new) but they also gave no indication of being flimsy whatsoever.

If I could find a complaint about it, I would have to say it would be with the lift lid. TI stuck pretty poorly to it's base. Annoyingly so. I'd like to think it's just that particular cart but who knows.

I'm heading back to Lowes tomorrow to finish up the project I nearly got done today so if anyone needs specific info about the cart, please feel free to PM me. PM's are a lot easier than sifting through all the posts. I'll be sure to check here before I go.

If you are going to spend $200 for that definitely get the red HF cart with 5 drawers. Nothing beats it at the price of $180 with a coupon. It's built amazingly well I love mine and might get a 2nd one in the future.

I'm holding off on a new cart... I'm between garages right now, and by the time I buy another house with a garage, I could possibly have enough saved to where I can buy the Snap On cart I really want, but if not, I'll likely get the red HF cart.

I would buy the HF $99 black cart (with coupon) WAAAAAY before I bought the Kobalt. The HF is much sturdier...and its black.

I have the kobalt and it is better than the hf black cart. I even had a 4 inch vise mounted on the side tray before I got my snap on box to put it on. Better casters are the only thing it needs. Solid box.

I agree with you about the casters.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the cart myself. The casters are horrible yes, but otherwise, I felt as though it were a very solid box. The drawers had minimal slop in them and little to no side play.

At 135.**, I dunno if I'd ****** it up, but if it dips lower...I might heavily consider it.

Check other local stores, I got one for $71.60 - $10 coupon. Out the door $68 after tax, HF can't beat that!

Just got my Kobalt tool cart. Fantastic and really well made for the price-a bargain at $65 OTD. I think it was a good deal at $100 before. Yes it only has two drawers but it does come with two side shelves.

My first "tool cart" but I really didn't like the cheap hard casters. So, $40 on Amazon got me four swiveling lockable polyurethane ball bearing casters. It helps that they are red too :)

Like the shelves, but they can be had at matco for $30-$45 depending on depth (Snap on is over $100, don't bother), Really don't like the shocks. but the depth looks useful!
could be an alright usage for a small garage cart or something similar

Yea, I have a few currently. Going to be buying another brand new one in the next few months. And have owned close to 2 dozen of them over the years. I kinda dig'em.

I had a drawer full of stickers just doing nothing, and some were ruined from there age so decided i should either use them, or toss them.
