Kobalt Xtreme Access sockets?

I noticed the Kobalt Xtreme Access sockets today at Lowe's, and they are being clearanced out. Has anyone tried these yet, and how well have they performed? Looks like they work for both standard and metric sockets, and will handle square, six point, and 12 point as well. Also works as pass through sockets, so they look interesting. Of course, they are made in Taiwan, but finish looks pretty good.

Any comments?

don't waste your time, they are universal size. Using 1 socket to comer SAE and Metric. They do not fit well and will strip fastener.

I like spline drive and use it allot, I would get the chinese made craftsman set with dedicated metric and sae size. They fit way better and will not strip a fastener.

PS I have a high regard for kolbalt ratchet, wrenches and sockets in general, but the extreme universal was a bad idea.

Interesting...of course, this may be the reason they are being marked down so much!

Are there nuts or bolts with this shape anywhere? Or they're just "universal"?

It appears to to be an attempt to make a socket that will fit virtually any size nut, from 6 or 12pt nuts to square and external Torx styles.

I hoped to find one that only these would fit. If there aren't any - screw the sockets ;) , they're antithesis of socket idea.

They are new and not being clearanced out. They put stuff on sale like this from time to time to create a sense of urgency in the customer, that this is new and they need it.

I expect them to be on sales. At one time we had only one or two choices for items like this. Then all of the sudden everyone is selling them or a similar product. There is probably enough pass through sets in this nation for the next 5 years. This and the roto ratchet has been everywhere this year. Both items of need but not daily.
