So, I have been watching this forum for over a year now and have got a ton of great ideas. We started our garage in November and I will be updating this as we make more progress. My wife and I had been needing a place to work on vehicles, (primarily our 64 Cadillac) and also needed more vehicle storage. Our current house only has a one stall detached garage and has no room for any other buildings. We had been watching for a place to come up for sale for a year and we got lucky. 5 acres came up for sale 3 blocks from where we live and we spoke for it the day after we heard about it. It had a house and barn on it that we didnt even walk through until we closed. We knew they had to be demolished so it didnt matter what they looked like. Here is what the property looked like when we closed.

The barn was in really poor condition. On pictures it looks much better than it actually was.

And one of the reasons we built the shop. The poor Cadillac needs a motor and it has been put off the last couple of months. We took it to Dallas on Hot Rod Power Tour last year and we fogged mosquitoes the entire way there and back. This is one of the first projects planned when we do get the shop finished up. The poor car has been ignored the last couple months, we closed on the property Oct. 1st and we had our first child Oct. 10th. The Cadillac got pushed in the garage and has sat.

I found some more pictures of demo. The excavator belongs to my in-laws, that really helped us out on the cleanup effort. My father in law worked at it like a full time job for a couple months.

Trusses are built and we are ordering the rest of the building tommorow. We are going with a 10' sidewall for a couple of different reasons. In a few years we want to build a house at this same place and then after that a shop. I really want a lift but I am going to wait until we build the shop. We have started purchasing some things for the shop like some of the Sams club work benches.

Have one together, one more to go and a bench. I think i will have a couple of steel tops formed for them though. Nothing set in stone yet.
