Kondia Knee Mill 9x42 for $1000 ?

I'm retired and always wanted to spend time learning the use of a milling machine.
I'm new to machining and have been looking at local ads for a machine around $1000.
Here is a machine i will look at this weekend.
any comments or advise would be appreciated.

Is the machine under power? That's critical for evaluating machinery. I'm not familiar with the manufacturer, but bridgeports were copied by a lot of people. If it's in decent shape id venture a guess that that is a good deal especially with the VFD.

Yeah, you need to call and get there ASAP. In my opinion, that is a deal.

Look for slop in the table and any noise in the head.

Other than that, take cash and your trailer.....

If it is all there and works, it will definitely be helpful to learn on.... If there is some slop to it, it may not matter a whole lot, but that depends on what you hope to machine up......

not sure of 9x42 and table travel of 12 x 28 but that sounds like a good mill and good price.

Vfd is worth probably $300 used.

Kondia is a good name. I actually prefer using these machines over a Bridgeport. Did you get it? If you did, post some photos.

Knee mill for $1000, sheesh, a rong fu 30 hobby mill just sold locally here at auction for $1200 and it was bare bones, nothing included.

If it's not thrashed it sounds like a great deal.
