Kool old craftsman drill press

I recently purchased this drill press at Habitat for Humanity store in South Carolina. I was hoping somebody tell me a little bit.

looks in fantastic shape . has it been restored or is it original?

This is what it looked like when I got it. All I really did was clean it up give it a new cord and a few dents removed on the English wheel. The other pictures are stuff that came with it

The date code on the motor is D3 47, April 1947. The features on the drill press itself strongly suggest it is the same vintage as the motor.


One thing... Because the spindle extends above the pulley that far, it means that the feed stop bracket is not fully seated onto the quill. You probably found the original pulley retaining screws damaged or broken as a result. Also likely is that your feed stop bracket is the early "closed loop" design which makes it difficult to fully seat.
