I have started some refurbishing on my kr500. Not really a full blown resto as I intend to use it in my garage. Here are some pics of my progress. Basically welded some cracks, Pounded out som dents and skim coated some of the repairs.

First one I have come across. I bought it for I think 260$ from some girl selling off her dad's stuff. Has a crazy lock mechanism I have yet to figure out.

What is the realistic value for these? I think they are cool and would not mind having one but I was thinking more of the $400 catagory.
What do you all say on that

I have seen them go $2000 for very nice condition w/ mid box to $400 for one spray bombed gray to hide the faults no mid box.

Looks good, what kind of paint are you using. I got some paint from Snap-on for my boxes I’m redoing but they only sell it in rattle can. I used part of one can and let it sit, then I used the rest of the can and the paint didn’t lay down too good.

Very cool... I have always loved that box for some reason. I think it might be the "mid century" look it has. Unique and modular. I have yet to see one in the wild either.

Made a little more progress today. The rustoleum red seems to be doing the job. I've done two test panels and am happy with both.

Finally put the roller together and threw some tools in there.

It was my new years resolution. Weather here is warm enough to paint in the afternoon. Those roller drawers were a greasy mess, so I have been procrastinating.

Looks great, Oldtuleguy. May be modern boxes can handle more, but the style of old ones puts them at another level. Fantastic job!
I never saw how this set looks from inside - very interesting to see! What does the left upper
Compartment look like?
Please post more pictures as you feel the box top to bottom.

Upper left top does not open, just a little work top. That drawer goes all the way up.

Thank you, Oldtuleguy!
This is one of the most unique and interesting boxes SO ever made. You did a great job giving it a second life. I envy your skills!
