Well, you guys finally got to me. After seeing the tool box restoration threads, I got the bug to get started on by own project. So tonight I picked these up...

The top is in good shape, ('77 vintage) the only real problem is a dent on the front corner of the top lid. The roller is in real good shape, ('83 vintage) just some scratches and minor surface rust.

I had a top/matching bottom that was a Rick Mears edition from the eighty's into the ninety's for like ten years. I had two sides on it but couldn't find the numbers for them as it was that long ago. Totally and utterly filled it, replaced numerous drawer slides for years just because how overloaded it was. Wish I had more pictures of it....

Re: KR537 & KR557

Does anyone know if the KR274 is the only side cabinet that will fit the KR537/KR557 combo?

Thanks

if the kr274 was the box that had the 3 small drawers at the top with the open compartments. that was the most popular box that i saw on that combo. back then SO didnt have a lot of choices on side boxes. :(

I believe the 278 might fit as a side box. I'll have to double check. I think I have one.

I've also been restoring the KR537/557 combo myself. There's a few threads in the tool section on it worth checking out.

I'm looking for the OEM trim for the doors on the 557, but so far, no luck. Anyone know?
