he's my score of the day. maybe not "you ****" worthy, but I paid $100. I am thinking about repainting it, but I don't have the means currently. so i'll let it be the it is for a while. this will be a nice supplement to my current box.

You're not the only one with a love for old-school Snap-On boxes. Clean and preserve it as best you can 'til you can afford to repaint it.

Very nice. Looks solid straight and not rusted out. Just think about what $100 gets you in a new top box these days :headshake

Those are very well made, respectable boxes. What year was it made? Not exactly lite though. ;)

i'd guess thats a bicentennial edition,

made in 1976

nice score

unfortunately, that sticker was added on by someone else. it doesn't fit and it wasn't put on that well.

this will be a great supplement to my stack on box I got from my dad for free. I really only collect tools to work on my car, so im using this box to store all my metric stuff (the car is an audi). the only bad part is it didn't include a key, but that is fixable.
it slightly larger than my top stack on box, so that is pretty nice for storage.

Wipe it down with WD40 and steel wool and put 'er to work.
I've got one of those and like it a lot. In fact, somewhere I've got the bill of sale off the truck to the original tech. March 24, 1977 - KRA59B - $218.95. I think he bought it on credit; something like $10 a week and was paying 15% interest.

BTW - that $219 is the equivalent of $844 today.

They still sell the KRA-59 today, it is ~$1000 IIRC. Of course they are upgraded with ball bearings, better lid support and other nice features, but still.
