Kreg jigs

if you have the Kreg jig set, how do you like it? is it worth the price?

I have one of their pocket hole jigs from a few years back. Great Product.

It is a an excellent product for what it does. It is however an inferior method for the majority of woodworking. It is perfectly acceptable for making cabinet faceframes but I would definitely say it is not good for building a bench. (they have a video of how to build a bench using the jig on Kreg's website)

As far as comparing it to other pocket hole joinery tools out there it is probably by far the best value.

Im not sure there is a Kreg product that does not do its job very well.

Me as well, I upgraded to the Kreg kit after using a knock off for a bit. Definitely worth the money.

I am not a woodworker at all, but i built a plain jane dining room table out of pine using the very basic kit. It seemed to work well.

I think they are great. I have the bigger kit and mounted it up on a piece of plywood with a 4x4 centered on the bottom. That way it can be held in the jawhorse or a regular vise.

You can make plywood shelves or drawers in a hurry with one of them. I used to use a biscuit joiner and that was pretty fast, but the beauty of the Kreg is that the joints are self - clamping.

I agree. I bought a basic ($40 +/-) kit about 8 years ago and used it for making face frames. However, since I learned how to make motise and tenons by hand, it just collects dust.

So, yes it is great for cabinetry.

No, no the strongest joinery system for making fine furniture such as chairs, tables, etc.

Good stuff, just used mine the other day for a glue-up, eliminates the need for clamps.

I've built numerous things with them-- I do mainly utility stuff; kithen cabs, bath vanities etc.. great product. Being free from the clamps is a great advantage.
