The kreg master system is $99 on Amazon right now, lowest price according to some of the Amazon trackers. Looks like they might be coming out with a new one though?

Because of this deal, I finally picked one up as I have a bunch of built-ins I will be doing in my remodel. Doing face frames with the Kreg instead of the biscuit joiner makes this a no brainer.

I've tried that before, their erstwhile Indian customer support representative, coincidentally named "Dave," always explains to me that they don't guarantee prices and that if I am not happy with the price, I can always return it. Then, as a gesture of goodwill, they always give me a $10 credit toward a future purchase. So yeah, I'm writing them to complain.

There should be more sales on the K4 as it gets phased out for the new K5 version.

For those new to using the Kreg jig, be sure to use a strong clamp on the joint, if possible, and set your drive/drill in the low torque settings. As the screw can pull the one piece up, and high torque can split wood some times depending on hardness & grain.

*To hold the drill for storage, I put a small magnet in the screw down hole located under the drill bit holder.

I have the K5, and there are some improvements over the 4 (like the clamp at the front, and extension wings to support the stock and provide a small amount of storage), that make it a bit better. Same results though.

I'll share something with ya'll I discovered this week. As you've no doubt discovered, the little gray plastic case that the master set comes with does not hold everything in the set, let alone provide any room for expansion. I found that Amazon has a Kreg-branded toolbox to store all the stuff in, at the somewhat steep price of $49.95:

Well, as it turns out, Home Depot sells the EXACT same box, manufactured by the same company in Israel, with the Husky name on it, for $29.99. It adds a lot of space for expansion and extra clamps, with tons of space in the bins for screws, bits, and drivers. It's black and gray instead of blue and gray, and doesn't have the Kreg name on it, but for $20 less, who cares...

I have the K5 system and it's awesome. Picked up a Craftsman 17" box for under $10 and everything fits. Now I want that Husky box though...

I highly recommend the K5 if you ever plan on pocket holing larger panels. The 40 dollar difference with save you a ton of aggravation just because of the side the clamping mechanism is on.

If you want something even better. Buy the K4, double acting pneumatic cylinder, and a 5 way foot valve. Should give you something simular to this.
