I have the kit as well and I love it!!!

I've reached for it many many times. you're right about it simplifying the task of joining materials.

I've had my Kreg for almost 2 years. One of the best tools I've ever bought. I have built a dining room table, king size bed, shop sink, and countless kid-proof shelves for our elementary school.

I mounted mine on a board with track.

I bought the $39 version to start. Looking back, I really wish I'd have bought the K3 or K4 kit. That jig is awesome.

Ive got one, and Love it!!

Not used it on any furniture builds, been working on the shop mostly, however its been VERY handy doing some of the framing - Had some that I would have to toe nail - so I tried the kreg Joint, I hung my fat self off piece held together with the Kreg System, Didnt move, crack, creak or Moan.. I'm impressed!

I use mine often. They are great for face framed cabinets. very strong and fast joint. Easier to set up than dowels or biscuits.

I received a kit 3 years ago. I don’t use it a lot. It will make tight joints. The screws are expensive and the drill bits pack up with wood chips easily. The pockets look crappy if they are exposed, and the pre made plugs are expensive. It is a good tool but I would not rave about it.

Outstanding tool.....just make sure you use the correct screws...if you try to be cheap and use normal countersunk screws...the wood will split.

I just used mine to repair some wood chairs....you know the kind....glued.....I was able to pull them apart a little bit....squirt in some wood glue....clamp and then use the pocket hole cutter to add screws. I have a batch of both short and long.

Remember....fine thread for dense woods such as oak and maple....course thread for soft woods (pine) and particle board.

FYI....the biscut cutter is also a great tool for joining wood....

Each has it's application.

I've been using them for several years building kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Sure makes face frame fabrication quick and easy.

A friend of mine has the kit. I have used it onb several frames. It works great and I will be getting one of my own soon.

It must number in the 100's the number of cabinet frames I have made using 3/8" spiral dowel pins. Was that ever time consuming.

The biscuits are somewhat better than the dowels, but this kregg jig is the best yet.

Oh....I feel your pain.....not only are the a PIA....it's really hard to get the front face to line up perfectly.

With the Kregg, I clamp both pieces to the table...then run another clamp to hold them against each other. If you don't, when you run the screw in, it tends to pull the first piece down a little as it cinches up.

It is an awesome tool. I've built entertainment centers, cabinets and shelves. Mostly, I use it anywhere the pockets are completely hidden. Other joints are likely to be glued and finish nailed anyway. It is so much easier than my biscuit joiner. I wonder if I'll ever use my biscuit joiner again?

I've done all those projects with the smallest kit available.

Now for those cheap SOBs like me, I did see in a woodworking magazine, a homemade jig for these type of joints using a drill press. This is one of my projects this year.

They're great. Fast and easy to use and make a stong joint. I use mine for a lot of things I used to use my biscuit joiner for. As pointed out above, make sure use the right screws and don't mix them up. Get one a little too long and you'll be "screwed".

I have a kit I think it is the K3, love it, just finishing a kitchen remodel and that thing has been my best friend. As was said in one of the previous posts, the joints need to be clamped in some manner to keep the boards in alignment as the screw is driven. Took some getting used to on that, but overall awesome tool.

years ago I worked in a cabinet shop, and we used these for 99% of the traditional face frame jobs. Fast, easy, cheap, good results, whats not too like!
