Im consedring buying a krl722 off the truck as my first snap on toolbox. It would be an upgrape from my beat up craftsman. My dealer has one onboard and he wants to sell me for a resenable price. But i have lil issues with it. First the top drawer is very hard to open. U have to really jerk it to open it. He tells me its cause its new and the detents havnt used up yet. Or is it just defective ? Second issue is that a drawer. When u open it. It opens crooked like one of the3 sliders isnt catching the lock. He tells me it can be warrentied. Wich would be great but im wondering if you can just ajust it? Like friction slides. Thanks for the input.

Snap on krl boxes do not have detents. They have the lock and roll drawer retention system. When you slide your hand to the left and pull the latch that's what opens the drawer not a detent. Then the drawer not opening square? Sounds like this box was either hit by something(car, fork lift etc) or it dropped off the tail gate of the truck. Just going by what you are describing. I could be way off.

The KRL722 doesn't have detents - it's a Lock n Roll box. As soon as you slide the drawer latch to the left, it's supposed to slide out very easy. If your dealer was a decent dealer, he'd fix the drawer BEFORE trying to sell it.

Ya once u slide the lock to the left its still hard to open the drawer. So from what im hearing either the box might be defective. Or knocked over.. so i should stay away from it? Maybe thats why hes selling it cheaper. Cause the other drawers i had no problem opening

Also, I gotta say this. I'm sure he knows everything that everyone here said, and that means he is lying to you to offload this box. He knows there are no detents, and is fibbing to get it off his truck, and then wants you to deal with the hassles of getting warranty work done, and the box may not be able to be fixed.

So IMO, he is either fibbing to you, or he is really stupid when it comes to his own products. I would call him on it personally, but my irritated meter goes straight to 10 when dealing with dishonest or dumb salesmen.

If you pay a truck price, it better be perfect. And none of this "fix it later ****". Fix it BEFORE you hand over the money.

I wouldn't trust your dealer...

He's trying to establish a long term business relationship with you, and he's not going about it very intelligently...

Or honestly

My opinion...

Find another box...

and another dealer...

If this is a brand new box the slides have to be seated with a fair amount of force. Open and extend the drawer, and with a fair amount of force pull the drawers towards you. It may take three or four attempts, but until this has happened the slides will not function properly and will be poorly aligned, etc. I've had two new KRL's in the past few years and they all needed each drawer and slide combo seated for smooth operation.

The dealer probably doesn't know how to change the slides. There's a special pry bar he needs to get to unlock the slides from the inside wall - it's part# SPP837.

I just got a KRSC326 and it had two drawers that were hard to open and harder to close. I got them replaced. They did have these plastic detents or stops on the rear of the slides that ones was messed up. One I just greased and didn't even replace that pair of slides on that drawer.

They may need some grease on the detents/stops but I wouldn't buy it with the problem already existing. Let him fix it.
