Does anybody have one of these as a primary toolbox? This is what is in my price range right now. Any reviews and owners pictures would be greatly appreciated :D

I was also wondering if I would be better off buying a KRA4107 and saving up for a top chest and end cab?

Thanks

Well one thing is how much tools do you have ? and will it fill it up also what kind of job do you have and the type of work condition example will you be able to roll it around the shop ? Do you plan on having a main box and a roll cart in the long run ?

I used one for a while and it worked great... I ran out of room quickly though.

I don't have any pictures but I do use the KRSC46 as my main/only tool box at work. It is full, but I plan on getting another box to put the tools that are not needed on a daily basis. I work primarily on DURAMAX trucks.

I think Snap-On would do better on their boxes if you could order different drawer configurations.

I have a 9 drawer 24" combo box right now and it is FULL plus a 23" portable box that is also full of work tools and 2 or 3 tool bags laying around with my blow molded cases filled with tools. I am in the diesel field working on Caterpillar equipment so there will be a lot of large heavy duty tools added to it eventually. The shop I am in has very little room for mobility so it will be setting against the wall. It will be my temporary box until I can afford a larger KRL box. I am also looking at the KRA5311 boxes it will just take a bit longer to get it.

I'm not a cart guy, tried it several times and have gotten rid of every one. I like the 4107, it was my first real toolbox. I like the flat top for piling stuff on top. The width of the drawers allows it shallow some pretty big tools. My 42" prybar fit.

I think if I were in the position you are in I would get a standard type bottom roll cabinet and build a worksurface/heavy duty top. The problem with the 46 is that you really have no place to lay stuff out and work on it.

Felix1, is there anyway you can post a couple more draw pics. I am on the fence about getting this cart only because i have not seen many people with the krsc 416 verses the krsc 46.

I have had my 46 for about 2 weeks now and I love it. I do general repairs brakes and suspension. The cart works great for me but since I don't want to use my top for my sockets like a lot of people do you kind of lose that drawer. Had a 26" craftsman roller and a matco msc4 that were both full and it definitely swallowed them both up.

The main reason I didn't get a lot bigger box was the shop I work at is super small for like 6 techs so a large box kind of gets in the way a lot also. Also the 46 is pretty easy to customize not cheap but very doable. And sorry no pics yet. I also have an extreme green with black trim.

I have 4 of them total, 3 of them at work and one at home. I had a KRA2432 with a hutch and end cabinet. But I am moving cross country in a month and needed to be VERY mobile. Its working out well, but they all take up alot of room.

I don't see a lot of flat black ones but I did see one on the truck and I have to say they look damn nice too.

Here is a link for mine http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=143728 I use it as my main box pretty well with some of my less used tools in my old boxes. For your purposes though I would almost say you may need to go a little bigger for the fact that with the bigger tools you need to have, you will run out of room quick. The biggest drive I use is 1/2 and that is very rare (bodywork).

Here is a pic of my dads home box: KRA 4107 with top chest (and questionable taste drawer pull trim) He got it used like new through his dealer. When it showed up and I saw the drawer trim, my dad and I were like :headscrat but anyway, I would NOT buy a Heritage box. The drawer slides **** and every time I open a drawer, it sways back and forth. It is Snap-on's HF level box, but I'd rather have the HF and save the money. He is probably going to sell it soon. A good friend of mine bought a KRSC46 last year and I love it. If I had the need for a cart, I would buy a KRSC46 hands down over the Heritage. If you plan on getting a top chest and cabinet, I would suggest the Classic series, or finding a used Master or Classic series through Craigslist or your SO dealer (who can finance it)

I usually cannot find any deals on Kijiji (Canadian Craigslist) so used boxes are just about out of the question.

Although I am working for the next year as a diesel tech, I am still a student in high school (I am in a trades program that allows me to get my apprenticeship, a paycheck and school credits all at the same time) so I would prefer not to go into debt this early on and would like to save for a cheaper snap on box.

I have been drooling over the classic 96 KRA2432 because I really like the lengthy bank of drawers but they are a bit pricey, especially when I am also looking to buy a truck to get back and forth from work.

More than all of the tools I have at work would fit into the KRSC46 roll cart as our tools are all supplied. I just hate using somebody elses tools when I have my own, I am picky that way.

While we are on the topic, what does everyone think of the Classic 78? Closer to my budget cap and more storage for larger tools with the option to upgrade with top and side lockers. 1/2" drive are the largest I need as anything larger is usually supplied in the shops around me.

I appreciate all of the input so far and look forward to more

Considering one of these 2 but do not like the fact that it slides backwards since 80% of the time it will be against the wall and cannot open so can the krsc46 top closed be used as a work surface like the krsc416
